Running for miles over rocky terrain can be hard on the bottoms of your feet. Thank goodness for the Pearl Izumi Women's Peak XC Trail Running Shoes. Protection plates in the forefeet and heel crash pads help protect your dogs as you train for endurance trail races, while High Rebound propulsion pads add cushioning. Flex grooves in the Peak XC Shoes smooth your transitions and take-offs, while the full-carbon rubber outsoles grip rocky ground.

Bottom Line: Lightweight, protective off-roaders.

Lovely color if that's what you are looking for...

Not impressed. I am a size 7.5 in casual shoes and consistently an 8 in running shoes. These were at least a half, maybe a whole size smaller. As such, I did not get to run in them, but they felt neither cushioned nor supportive through the arch during the initial try. Both of which I look for in a running shoe. But oh, what a color...Had to send them back.

Great Support Everywhere!

Picked up a pair of these for my wife. She loves them! They're very stable, cushioned well and are well supported throughout the shoe. She runs mostly on the road but on some trails and they've been just what she was looking for. She hasn't been on anything too aggressive in the trails yet but what she has done she's been happy with. They ran just a bit tight but not massively. Really nice shoes overall and she likes that they're cute:)

I have owned 2 pair of the syncro seek, size 9. I ordered these in a 9 and ended up sending them back and going a whole size up.

Run Like an Animal!!

Backcountry Footwear Buyer's Choice:
Sweet trail running shoe! Great cushioning throughout, got great spring of the forefoot. Good for road and trail running. More ideal for 5 mile trail runs. Did the Bolder Boulder 10K road race in these. The shoes are super lightweight and responsive. I suggest buying 1/2 to a full size up, the shoes run on a performance last. Recommend for neutral runners. The insole comes out for easy orthotics fit.

Not a lot of support or cushion

By:
July 3, 2009

These have much less support and cushion than my other Pearl Izumi trail runners (synchro seek II). Also, the seemed to run slightly small. Overall, I returned them for a more stable and cushion ride.

Pros: Very comfortable, love how the shoe seems to conform to my foot. Felt awesome from day one once I slipped my insoles in. Color is great, I like being a little different. Very breathable and oh-so-lightweight! Cons: Down right slippery (even when dry) on ledge and boulders that our VT trail are fulla.

light and fast

I wore these on a two hour trail run to break them in for the Bear 100 mile trail run. They were instantly comfortable with no hot spots on that run. The toe box felt great even on the 100 miler (toe blisters have been a huge problem for me). However, at about mile thirty of the Bear I had to switch into my old shoes because the back was cutting into my heel. I also felt like they didn't give me enough support for technical downhill running but my buddy told me I should have laced them through the extra hole at the top. I have yet to try them again but I have a feeling now that they are truly broken in and with that extra lacing they'll feel great.

Pearl Izumi Peak XC Trail Shoe

By:

I absolutely love these shoes. They are very comfortable and fit the foot well with no hot spots. Although some have complained they are slippery, I've had no problems with this issue. While my current trails are not highly technical, I've gotten good traction.

Pearl Izumi Peak XC Trail Running Shoes

Great shoe. I've only worn them a few times because there are no trails near my home. I have to go to a local park to run on trails. I live in California and it's too hot for me to run at any time other than early morning, so I can only go to the park on the weekends.

These shoes are SOOO comfortable and I get great compliments on the color (hot pink/moonlight) all of the time. The are cute enough I wear them to work and comfortable enough with great support and breathe-ability to wear out running. Buy a 1/2 size larger than you normally would.
