Total comfort in a bibless short
The proliferation of ladies' bibs in the past several years hasn't diminished our love of good old strapless shorts. And, because Pearl Izumi knows that sometimes we're going to be making a few extra pit stops, and sometimes it's too hot for extra straps, it designed the P.R.O. Leader Women's Shorts to offer the same high quality as bibs while eliminating the top.
Pearl Izumi used its patented P.R.O. Transfer fabric on the shorts. This fabric employs a one-way capillary action and hydrophobic fibers to draw moisture away from the skin. Dry skin, in summer or winter, translates into a comfortable core temperature. What makes these shorts perfect for hot, sunny days is the In-R-Cool technology. This built-in feature reflects the sun's rays to reduce the surface temperature of the fabric by up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in direct sunlight.
Pearl Izumi has gone all-out on its chamois for the P.R.O. Leader Women's Shorts as well. By using its top-of-the-line Women's Anatomic P.R.O. Seamless 4D Chamois, Pearl Izumi guarantees all-day comfort for ladies who put in long hours in the saddle. As with the men’s version, the chamois makes use of its new foam that's 35% lighter and thinner; three layers of it is strategically placed to give you padding where you need it most. Pearl Izumi has also included their Pressure Relief Technology (PRT), which means that the insert has been specifically designed to relieve tender spots and allow the blood to circulate properly: no more numbness after one or two hours of sitting on the saddle. The chamois is seamless and features four-way breathable stretch to move with you.
Pearl Izumi has given the P.R.O. Shorts a wide waistband so that your tummy won't be squeezed, and the legs, which feature a nine-inch inseam, are held in place by a gripper-free double hem.
The Pearl Izumi Women’s P.R.O. Leader Shorts are available in X-Small through X-Large and come in Black/dazzling blue.

- Q & A
Very nice shorts
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Small
I'm 5'5", 115 lbs,, 25" waist, 35" hips and the small fit me perfectly. The quality is great, fabric is compressive, I like the banding at the hemline. The chamois is very comfortable. These shorts are much like my Pearl Izumi Pro Escape shorts, that I also like a lot. I gave them a 4 and not a 5 because I prefer the chamois in both the Castelli Velocissima and Castelli Free Aero. The Castelli shorts are most comfortable to me for long rides. The Pearl Izumi shorts are my second favorite.
