The only running shorts I own
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
Truly, these are the only running shorts I own. I have something like 20 pairs of them in gray and black. I've re-stocked my reservoir of shorts over time, so what I have today is a mixed bag of Infinity shorts that span a few years (yes, they last that long if you are cycling through a bunch of them).
Truth be told, I like the liner Pearl Izumi used to use many years ago. It was a tad thicker and softer and felt like it shook off the sweat a little better. The current liner Pearl Izumi uses is more silky (if that's the right word). It is still soft on the bum, but I find it less helpful when it really gets wet (although still good enough that it's the only running short I use). I also felt the old liner was a little snugger and stretchy and held "stuff" in place better. The change in the liner is probably the only reason I am not giving them 5 stars.
Frankly, they aren't just for running. I wear them to the gym, hiking, taking a swim off the trail. I've really put them through their paces.
They have a single zippered pocket in the small of your back region that runs across the top of the back of the shorts and is a few inches deep. Easily can throw a key in here or you can jam (literally) about 3 gel packs (although that much weight sort of bounces around). They have an elastic draw string in the front that you can pull and then knot to keep it in place.
Solid Running short
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
I was a little reticent about buying a short with a liner. These shorts are very light and comfortable, even with a liner. The pocket in the back is just big enough for an Iphone. The draw cord is a little weird, it is kind of elasticky. It feels a little like you can't cinch them tight but I haven't had any kind of slipping down problems so not a big deal.
