Stay warm without all the layers

Leg warmers are an asset when the intensity of tights are too much, but you still need an extra layer to keep your joints warm in the saddle. The Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Leg Warmers keep your legs toasty, and your muscles supported during your ride.

Made from Pearl Izumi's Elite Thermal Fleece, these leg warmers have a soft inner-lining that not only insulates, but also feels cozy against the skin. And while providing your legs with superior warmth, the Thermal Leg Warmers stretch to allow a full range of motion. This characteristic is attributable to their front-to-back construction that eliminates bunching around the knees. To keep the leg warmers from sliding, Izumi incorporated an elastic binding with a silicone gripper around the thigh. And for easy removal, a zipper has been added to the ankle. Not leaving anything to chance, Izumi used reflective elements throughout the leg warmers to keep you visible in low light conditions.

The Elite Thermal Leg Warmers are available in the colors White and Black and come in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large.

DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY

I like everything about them other than the fact that they will not stay up. The silicone gripper in on the outside and they just don't grab anything. I used them on 3 different rides all with the same result, I spent the whole ride stopping and pulling them up. Definitely would not recommend

Love them!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I use these a lot more than I care to admit, even here in the south.

Once the mercury starts dropping, I use them as stand alone to keep warm on early morning rides. Once the temps really start dropping (down into the 30s and 40s), I use them in conjunction with layers and over a set of thermal tights.

They work great. I love them so much because once the temps start to come up a bit in the morning, or I start getting hot, I can take them off and the material is thin enough that they fit well into a jersey pocket.

update: didn't stay up.

Pearl Izumi USA, based near Boulder CO, designs some of the best cold-weather cycling gear. These 2013-2014 PI Elite leg warmers feature great quality and excellent QC (per usual from Pearl Izumi) and great zippers but had trouble staying up. The top goes under your bib shorts, but the silicon gripper (exterior only) was an occasional half inch line -not continuous.

Maybe it is the shape of my legs? Maybe they need to redesign the silicon gripper? UPDATE: They did for the 2015 P.R.O. leg warmers. Buy those instead!

Fit: I'm 5'10" 185 lbs. The size M seemed to fit perfect.

Super awesome- and good looks

I have had a pair of both the arm warmers and leg warmers; now I got the same pairs for my lady biker :) She tried mine and wouldn't give them back - argh.... So now she has her own pair, and loves them. Size is perfect, there is an almost fleece inner fabric that's nice. Keeps the wind out almost 99%. These leg warmers have a pre-manufactured 'bend' to them; meaning they are sewn with an ergonomically manufactured bend - just the way your leg is positioned when riding; slight bend; a super nice touch. Get some of these for you other-half, will make her happy and keep her out riding with you :)

They're warm nuff said

They keep my legs warm, on those brisk night rides I love so much.
As noted bellow you will want the bib/chamois with a silicone gripper at the bottom to keep them up. Luckily all my shorts are pearl izumi so I dont have a slip problem.

These warmers require a garter belt!

Okay, positives first: these are warm, good zippers and have articulable knees.
Negatives: I could not get them to stay up - annoying on a 32* day!! They guys told me I should wear a garter belt with them. Ha, ha, ha.
The silicone grippers are on the outside of the upper thigh on these warmers, but, since my bibs don't have silicon grippers on the inside of the leg holes, so there was no silicone-silicone contact to keep the darn things up! Annoying, to say the least.

Responded on

Some brands are better than others. If you have some that slide down a lot, buy a can of bag balm and smear some on your upper thigh before putting on your leg warmers. It holds them up well and has the added benefit of making your skin softer.
