    Sing it.

Pearl Izumi was born out of a father's desire to create a cycling kit for his son. Fast forward decades later and the company is one of the most recognized names in the industry. Apparel is still a staple, however, and its line of women's shorts features cuts and details for every rider. For example, the Elite Shorts and Symphony Shorts both employ the same Elite transfer materials and Elite 3D chamois, but the Pearl Izumi Symphony Women's Shorts have their own multi-panel design that walks that line between form-fitting performance and all-out comfort.

As with the Women's Elite In-R-Cool, the Women's Symphony Shorts includes the Women's Elite 3D Chamois. This comfort-oriented insert is designed for riders who get out anywhere from three to seven days in a week. It is pre-shaped to fit the contours of a woman's body and even has slightly thicker (13mm) padding than the P.R.O. Seamless Chamois for a touch more protection. The Pearl Izumi Pressure Relief Technology ensures that the pad won't cut off your circulation. The pad's four-way stretch will keep it moving with you and wicking sweat so that you won't have to worry about friction, while the active carbon yarns improve thermo-regulation and keep static-induced fatigue to a minimum.

The stretchy Elite Transfer fabric in the Symphony Women's Shorts offers a great combination of moisture management capabilities with the special In-R-Cool technology that reflects direct sunlight. All of this you'll find in the Women's Elite In-R-Cool shorts; where you'll start noticing the differences is when you take a look at the cut and paneling. The wide waistband has been contoured to give you a flattering yet comfortable shape. A side pocket has also been included so that you can keep valuables protected. The inseam has been shortened to eight inches from the nearly nine-inch inseam you'll find on the Elite In-R-Cool shorts.

Silicone leg grippers hold the leg hems in place without pulling or pinching your skin. Reflective elements are included to keep you visible in low light. The Pearl Izumi Symphony Women's Shorts are available in sizes X-Small through XX-Large and come in the colors Black, Black/white, Black/berry, Black/blackberry, and Black/crimson.

    Great shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I just finished a 50 miler. These shorts are now my favorite. The padding is great. I love the yoga waistband. It's extremely comfortable. I like the shorter length so my tan line is higher

    Great liner, length is short

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: small

Pros: Very flattering cut, liner is very comfortable. If you like "sugar shorts" you'll love these!

Cons: Too short for long rides or intense races. Inseam length preference is pretty dependent on body type, but I can't do anything that's a "sugar short" or "indoor short" and even tri shorts just ride up constantly. These are short enough to do that. Due to the length, you can't keep your leg warmers under them either.

    Sizing:
I am a small in my old Pearl Izumi shorts as well as Voler and Castelli team shorts. The small in the short was baggy in the crotch and loose around my legs.

    Classic CC misleading sale.

Looking for shorts for my wife. She likes Pearl. Quick google search for best price leads me here. On sale from 76.96. Right- for the purple XL's! Come on CC. If you put an item on sale, so a Google search finds it as the lowest price, do better than this! A shame, when CC does have real sale it's usually good, but this type of internet baiting isn't worthy.

      Good for short rides

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: large

These shorts are super comfy - love the looser leg openings and soft waistband - but for some reason, the placement of the chamois is irritating on the sides for rides longer than 30 miles. Maybe I just need chamois cream, but I don't have this problem with other shorts. Very cute and good fit otherwise!

      great long distance bike shorts

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

Although I did not purchase these through backcountry.com, I do own these shorts. I wore them for every long bike ride I had while training for an ironman last year. They are very comfortable and I had no issues with them at all while riding for long hours. I love that they never ride up your leg while pedaling. The waist band is the perfect cut and super comfortable while in the aerobars for a long period of time. The seams didn't chafe and the padding was excellent. I did use chamois cream with the shorts too. I honestly have 0 complaints and would definitely recommend them!
