Well beyond basic.
A climbing-specific jersey is one of those pieces that you don't know you're missing until you try one out. Once you do, arguing against the necessity of a having a whisper-thin top to reach for when you're getting ready for a day of grueling climbs in the heat of midsummer becomes pretty difficult. Pearl Izumi's featherweight ELITE Pursuit Summer Jersey is brand new for Pearl, and its breathability and featherweight materials will keep you cool as you test your limits on challenging, exhausting new gradients.
Every construction detail of the ELITE Pursuit functions in the name of airflow, aiming to simulate wind when you're in the middle of an asphalt wall absorbing the sun's heat. The Direct-Vent mesh main body pairs with stretchier polyester/elastane shoulders and back to create a jersey that moves with you without feeling restrictive. Synthetic fibers dutifully pull moisture away from your skin as you struggle to maintain cadence, and a full-length zipper allows for additional ventilation. At the rear, three standard pockets provide space for you to store vital, electrolyte-replenishing ride fuel to grab when you reach the top.
- Item #PLZ00CH
- Q & A
Poor fabric choice on shoulders and back
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
This is advertised as a summer weight jersey, but it uses fabric across the shoulders and the top of the back that's not breathable at all, and there's also a wide strip of the same fabric running down the center of the back.
The jersey is also very short, especially at the waist in front. I'm only 5' 10" and a large is too short in front.
