It seems like every jersey is marketed as being optimized for hot weather, but the same isn't really true for bib shorts. That seems silly, because bibs are just as important as a jersey, so it makes sense to us that Pearl Izumi made the Elite In-R-Cool Men's Bib Shorts to help you cool down during hot days in the saddle. The face fabric is made of ELITE Transfer In-R-Cool, a seriously advanced moisture-wicking fabric that moves sweat instantly away from your skin, and treated with Coldblack technology, a finish that helps the fabric absorb 80% less sunlight than traditional fabrics, so you don't bake inside your shorts. Coldblack also offers up UPF 50+ sun protection to save your skin from UV rays, and made the bibs from a lightweight mesh to help keep you cool.

To keep you feeling good in the saddle, Pearl hooked the Elite up with its ELITE 3D chamois, which utilizes variable-density padding to supply cushioning where you need and it and space where you don't. It's covered with a stretchy moisture-wicking fabric that adjusts to your body and keeps you dry, and finished with carbon yarns that actively fight off bacteria, so odor doesn't become an issue.

    Really good bibs

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Great pair of bibs for price. Good compression, comfortable bib straps and chamois. Got them on sale so super deal. Worn for 40 to 50 mile rides without any problems. Would say 5star at the sale price.

    I own 3 of these!

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

These bib shorts are just great. I have 3 of these. I use them in temps 48F and above with leg warmers. Anything lower than that and I pull out the PI Thermal Bib tights to get hip/groin coverage. The other thing I like about these is the logos are small and understated so it gives a neutral look that works well with any top. Chamois is great and comfy but not too bulky or thin. The shoulder straps do the job and are so comfortable that you forget they are there. 5'11 172lb Size Lg

    Great Bib

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

6-0 ft, 165 lb. Large. Fits great, soft and good chamois. Moisture wicks away and seams are flat. Washes well. So far about 500 miles in bib. Would easily buy again.

A good "go to" pair of bibs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I owned an older version of these, had to let them go as my old saddle bag dig a whole in the inner thigh. I loved them back then, and love them more now. They have made good improvements, fabric, elastic on the legs, yet the chamois seems to be the same, which is why I liked them. They are definitely good quality and are comfortable. Can't beat the price also.

    Great Value

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

I own both the Elite and the PRO, as I wanted to see if the PRO was worth the premium. While the fabric and stitching of the PRO are softer and more refined, the Elite serves me well for shorter training rides. And if you can catch a sale as I did with these, they are a smoking value.

    Pearl Izumi In-R Cool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Great bibs, first pair of In-R Cool, third pair of Pearl Izumi bibs with the elite chamois. Yes, this chamois is a little thicker than most but it seems to work out great for me when paired with a chamois cream (I prefer Buttonhole) on 100 - 160 mile rides. I was a little worried the white band at the bottom of the bibs would become stained but so far so good.

    Chamois a bit much

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I have two pairs of Gore bib shorts, and two pairs of Garneau bib shorts. These bib shorts grip your leg better and the bib fits better, but the chamois is bit too thick as compared to the other shorts. I reserve these shorts for shorter rides because the chamois will chafe on longer rides.

    Great upgrade from Quest shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

My first pair of bib shorts, and boy are they fantastic. The upgrade from Quest shorts to these is without a doubt the best purchase I've made. Was aware of the straps rubbing, but never had any chafed spots during a ride. A base layer underneath the straps and jersey fixes this anyway. Chamois is substantially thicker and softer, and unlike with Quest shorts, never really had to use chamois butter for anything under around sixty miles. Any more and I put it on anyway.

The best part is that they're just so damn breathable! Whenever I'd get home, my old shorts would be drenched in sweat. These stayed dry even in peak of 90 degree weather.

Another thing Quest wearers might notice: the silicone around the leg grippers aren't in those blobby dots anymore. No more dimples on your legs at the end of a ride; these used thin strips instead so you don't feel like the shorts are biting into your thighs.

    Great Shorts for Great Price

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am pretty new to the road apparel game, said i would never don the lycra but here i am and I'm happy to say that these shorts are awesome. They keep everything in position and the chamois on these shorts are awesome, my longest rides in them have only been a couple of hours but so far no complaints.

    Nice bib (black/lime punch)

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I have a few bibs (PI Attack, LG, Sugoi, and Castelli) and this one seems to be nice. The fabric is much thicker than the PI Attack & the LG that I own. Just wish the length is at least 1 inch longer for the legs because it's higher than the other bibs that I have. Overall, it's a nice bib and I wouldn't mind purchasing another pair (if they have red in stock for my size) when it's on sale or with a discount coupon.

Good PI Bib Shorts - Elite In-R-Cool

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    Fit: true to size.
Quality: very good entry into mid-range of bib short choices.
I wear these at least once a week for a 25-30 mile regular route. So far, so good. A little wear on the saddle contact spots, but nothing out of the ordinary. They work well in the Florida heat and mild winters.
I'm a "Clydesdale" at 5'10", 200#, 36" waist and Large is spot on for me.
Catch these on sale and you'll get a strong bang for your buck.

I am 5'10'' tall with a 32" waist and a 32" inseam. i weigh 170lbs. and wear a 42 long jacket (long torso). what size Pearlie bib would i take? what size L. Garneau bib?
