Waterproof and breathable protection.

Snow, hail, and rain are what Pearl Izumihad in mind when it perfected the Elite Barrier WxB Jacket. These days, it's easy to produce a waterproof and breathable garment, as the WxB is, but one that performances on two-wheels requires more than fancy materials -- it takes experience.

To protect you from the worst of weather conditions, the Elite Barrier WxB mixes two- and three-layer technology. The body is constructed from a two-layer laminate that features the Titanium fabric for added thermo-regulation. This keeps warmth in, but it's also designed to allow ample stretch for unrestricted movement.

This is essential to providing complete coverage in the many stretched positions of cycling. The three-layer material is found on the Elite Barrier's sleeves. The added layer increases comfort against the skin, and enhances the Barrier's wicking performance. An asymmetrical shape to the sleeves' cuffs allow a perfect, weather-tight interface with gloves.

Also establishing the Elite's ultimate weather protection are fully-taped, internal seams. For further protection, a waterproof front zipper features an internal draft flap to prevent cold breezes from penetrating. Completing the picture is a full treatment of reflective elements that increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

The Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier WxB Jacket is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black/black, Screaming Yellow/black, and True Red/black.

Keeps the rain off!

This is a great jacket for keeping off the rain/snow! I normally wear a medium and this one fits great, love the form fitting cut but I have still had adequate room to wear a long sleeve base layer and l/s jersey under this when the weather was below freezing and that was more than necessary to keep warm as long as I was working. My only complaint so far with this jacket is that the zipper is very difficult to get seated when starting to zip it up. Not sure if it is just my jacket, I have a feeling it is because of the stiff waterproofing measures around the zippers, I am a little worried about the time I have to try to put this on/ take it off while still on the bike moving.
Not easy to update this review but had too... After several various weather/temp uses I have to say I end up wetter inside this jacket than out most days. Zipper down and vents open on a high 40's low 50's day and I am uncomfortably clammy, sorry iP I love most of your stuff and loved the fit and fashion, but this jacket was for the function!

Initially, I was not too keen on spending $150 on a biking jacket. Have no regrets whatsoever now - this is one of the most functional jackets I own. Does everything as advertised: good wind breaker; breathable; "cool" weather appropriate. Have been riding at about 39 degrees with light fleece base - its perfect!

will this jacket compress into back jersey...

will this jacket compress into back jersey pocket?

It is not really thin enough to quickly stuff in a back jersey pocket but I had mine rolled up nicely and it rode securely tucked in my jersey pocket for 130km last weekend when the rain was threatening!

Great bad weather jacket

Fit is not super tight so it goes over other layers. I can use it for both road and mountain wet days.

Burly enough for really heavy storms. This is not designed as a super tiny minimalist stowable rain coat. It is just small enough to pack into a large rear jersey pocket.

Keeps me warm, double cuffs are great. Seems to breath well, the side vents help.

All in all I am very happy.

Bomber jacket...Pearl Izumi is the only way to go! The quality is like that of an ArcTeryx! Jacket has zipper side vents, chest pocket w/ taped outlet hole through inside of jacket for ear bud connection to ur Ipod or phone. Adaptable to any Pearl Izumi hood...hood not included.

Would this jacket work for winter riding...

Would this jacket work for winter riding - o degrees or below?

Responded on

No! Unless you buy 1 size larger and layer under it. I was comfortable in 38-40 degrees with a medium weight under armor thermal. Im 6'tall, 184lbs. and I bought a large. It fits great, but not a lot of room to layer under it. I could wear a heavy weight thermal under it, but not my Pearl Izumi soft shell jacket. Hope this helps!

Took my new wxb on its first ride yesterday. 30*F. Light t-shirt and mid weight ls layers underneath. Perfect performance and comfort even with a strong wind. For 0*F I would have to agree with Todd
