If the weather report can't make up its mind, zip up the Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Convertible Jacket and ride through the spritzes, sprinkles, and showers. Pearl used its polyester Elite Barrier fabric to block moderate precipitation while preventing the clamminess that stems from sweat accumulation, and it included Direct-Vent side and chest panels to take the jacket's breathability to the next level. Elite Barrier is also effective against the wind, so you won't turn into an ice pop when you're pedaling on crisp fall days, and the front zipper of the Elite has an internal wind flap to prevent gusts from sneaking in through tiny gaps.
The Elite Barrier is more than just a jacket, though. Its zip-off sleeves pop off in seconds, so you can turn it into a vest for core coverage with increased ventilation, and they store easily in either the zippered hand pockets or secure back pocket. In addition to its eye-catching colors, this jacket boasts plenty of reflective detailing to keep you visible, along with a drawstring hem to seal out spray and drafts and a soft zipper garage to prevent chin chafe.
