Description

Ready for adverse weather.

A little water and a breeze can be welcome relief from heat. On the other hand, they bring discomfort when the mercury drops. The Pearl Izumi Cyclone Glove's wind- and water-resistant fabrics block that digit-chilling combination so your hands won't suffer on damp, cold rides.

One key fabric to the Cyclone is Pearl Izumi's Elite Softshell. It offers your hands technical moisture management and wind protection with a comfortable fit. This softshell has three elements; a stretchable knit face to avoid restriction of movement, a waterproof laminate to seal against precipitation, and an insulating, soft-against-the-skin inner to retain warmth and wick perspiration. The Elite is primarily located on the back of the hand, except along the thumb where a windproof fleece is strategically placed for wiping duty.

At the palm, Pearl opted for durable and tactile Clarion synthetic leather and combined it with gel padding to offer long-ride comfort. But, they use the padding sparingly, placing it to specifically help alleviate pressure against the wrist's nerves. Pearl calls this Comfort Bridge Gel, and it effectively helps to reduce the onslaught of numbness without hindering the rider/bicycle interface.

Also key to a seamless interface is a highly anatomic shape and fit. Pearl optimizes dexterity by placing extreme care in every panel that makes up the cyclone glove. This allows effortless shifting and braking, with the added benefit of silicon screened fingertips for lever grip. That same approach ensures the weather-blocking Gauntlet wrist with hook-and-loop closure will prevent exposed skin without cutting off circulation or pinching.

Optimized for weather conditions with limited visibility, Pearl Izumi ensured this warm, water- and wind-resistant glove has plenty of reflective elements. The Cyclone Glove comes in sizes Small through XX-Large, and either Red, Black, Blue, or yellow.

Bought these for colder temperature riding thinking they might do a decent job.

Frankly they don't do much when temperatures drop below mid-30's in Utah. However, as is expected, construction quality is top notch and the gloves are very comfortable from a fit standpoint.

I have kept them and expect to get good use out of them on chilly, but not frigid, riding days.

This is my 2nd pair of PI Cyclone gloves. I had the2010 gloves and they were starting to wear down so I bought these to replace.

Sizing; I cant remember the sizing chart used, but measuring from the bottom of my palm to the tip of my middle finger is about 7 inches, and I chose a MD and them seem to fit really well.

Comfort; As far as warmth and comfort goes I believe it depends on one's tolerance of cold and anatomy, perhaps even the day. When I MTB, I prefer to use a five finger glove as mush as possible as, lobster gloves for example, seem to take away some control and comfort of handling and braking. Im a thin dude and it varies on the day whether I can man the cold or whimper at the lower digits. I think I can use these down to 30 degrees, give or take. If there is a strong wind then perhaps they would not be as warm!

Durability; the first or 2nd ride I took these on the seam on the index finger tore. I sent them back and received a new pair. I have since worn the often and w/o issue. If these are any thing like the last design, the glove will last. My old pair handled multiple washings!

Bottom Line; Great Late Fall early Winter Glove and/or temps 30-50!

The way these gloves with advertised on Backcountry made it sound like they would be great in cold weather. I have used them commuting from work in about 36F weather and below and my finger tips were a bit frosty almost instantly. The description is just a little bit misleading.

That being said, these would be fantastic fall/spring gloves. The wind protection works really well, it's just not meant for riding much colder.

This is a great cycling glove, certain to keep your digits warm and cozy in almost any weather. Admittedly, they are not the best for heavy rain but they will keep you dry if you are only going to be on the bike for about 15-20 minutes. If rain is a serious issue where you live, look for a waterproof glove. However, if you only get the occasional fleeting shower, the Cyclone will do the trick.

I use these on my ride to work, every day, during the winter. I have been very satisfied with the comfort of the gel padded palm, the overall snug yet accommodating fit, the grip of the textured fingertips, and the visibility that the reflectors/vibrant coloring provide me. However, I do have one complaint that brings my rating of the Cyclone down to 4 stars: the hook and loop closure.

First, I do not see the necessity of a hook and loop closure for this glove. It fits... like a glove, very close and snug. The cuff is a tight fitting elastic material that, if anything, might be too tight for people with larger wrists. Point being, this glove is not going to slide off your hands, and there will never be a draft thanks to the well designed cuff. The hook and loop closure is superfluous.
Second, is the fact that the hook part of the closure has a tendency to scuff up the material of the index finger when removing the glove. It will also scuff up the inner lining of any jackets that you wear over the glove. It took me only a handful of removals to realize what was happening, so I cut off the hook and loop straps with scissors. Not a big deal, took about 5 minutes and now the problem is solved. The Cyclone is now a perfect winter glove.

I have average sized hands and a medium fits me very well. The material is a little stretchy, but nice and tight overall. If you prefer to wear a glove liner, I would recommend a size up.

Bought these for a recent trip to cycle in England. Weather 40's-50's drizzle, fog, heavy rain. The gloves were great-comfortable, dry, warm. They don't seem like they are designed for weather in the 20's or below.
