this shirt is perfect as a baselayer in almost any temp. a midweight is probably better for colder temps tho. one downfall is the shirt seems to be really prone to snags and holes, as the shirt is pretty thin. still, cant really go wrong with patagonia

Best long underwear for skiing. Period.

Sized so it stops at the top of your ski bottoms, trim but not snug, and wool so it doesn't stink. All you need.

The thinnest, plushest wool baselayer I've had. I can't wait to put it on, and do any chance I get. Only downside it durability. This item get snags and holes at the drop of a hat. If you machine wash, do so only on gentle without any clothes that have zippers or sharp parts. If it cost $45, I'd give it a 5 and accept the durability issues.

For the first little while when I bought this shirt it looked great as a stand alone shirt for the fall and winter. But then it started to slightly pill and I found that the black tended to show every piece of lint and hair that it attracted so now I hide it underneath other clothes. It still functions great as a thin wool underlayer

This Wool 2 is great! I had previously only worn capilene baselayers and decided to believe the hype and give the wool a try. There will be no going back! Wool is the way to go. Patagonia made this top with a perfect fit. I hugs your body tight enough to stay warm and act as a baselayer but not too tight (like Under Armour). The size L worked perfect for me @ 6'0" 190. I've been trying wool long undies galore (when I can find them on sale!) - and the Patagonia Wool 2 is the softest I've found. You won't realize that it's wool - except that you can wear it MANY times without any stink. Only caution is on sizing. I feel like Patagonia sizing has gotten larger. I used to wear XL tops -- but these undies and the last t-shirt I bought seem like the are running much larger. . . anyone else agree? If you are ordering as a base layer, I would go a size smaller. . .

Very soft, warm, and not too itchy. Holds shape well over many washings.

i have the crew version and the zip up in the wool 2 and wear them both to much. I can workout in them multiple days before they even start to smell. Really soft and comfy and have a nice slim fit. Would recommend to everyone.

This is a very lightweight comfortable shirt. I like it for layering and even by itself. I wouldn't mind buying another one. I haven't hand any problems with durability, but it seems like it could get snagged and damaged easily.

The Patagonia wool line is exceptional. The wool 2 crew is perfect for laying and keeps me dry and warm. I would definitely buy again.

I used it on a trip to the Guadalupe mountains in mid March. It kept me warm when the temps dropped at night, but is breathable and kept me cool when the temps increased during the days. The shirt is soft, no itching (BIG +) and didn't stink after two straight days of use. Worth every penny!

I have a rather small chest - 34" - so I was glad to try on the XS, which fit well. Nice and form fitting but two things give it 4 stars instead of 5 -- 1) material is so thin, it should not be this expensive! and 2) it's as soft as some of my soft cotton.... actually that's probably a good thing, but it makes me wonder why I just didn't spend $10 on a gap cotton shirt.
