Wear the versatile Patagonia Women's Velocity Power Stretch Hooded Jacket as a base layer on a winter expedition, as a mid-layer for skiing, or as a jacket during a winter trail run. This stretchy, wicking jacket helps you stay dry, warm, and comfy during high-output winter activities. The smooth face on this slim-fit fleece jacket slides easily under layers, and its soft interior feels good next to your skin. Offset seams ensure no chafing under pack straps, and the low-profile hood warms your ears and neck as well as your head.
Bottom Line: Depending on the weather, wear this stretch fleece jacket as a base layer, mid-layer, or outer layer when you head into the mountains.
I purchased this jacket as a present for my sister for her 30th birthday. She is 5'7" 140 lbs, and the medium is perfect! The sleeves are nice and long, and the length torso-wise is perfect, extending slightly past her hips. I bought her the bitter chocolate color, and we are not dissapointed! This jacket is soft and very warm, and form fitting but not tight. It is a lot warmer than you would think, considering its weight.
I normally wear a medium across the board. I've never owned a patagonia jacket though, and I've read several reviews that say to order the next size up. Is this true for this jacket too? Any suggestions?

i got this pretty recently and it's already become a go-to jacket. For all you tall ladies- i'm 6ft and rarely ever find jackets that fit my arms and long torso but this jacket does the job without sacrificing looking feminine- i even wear the thumb holes and it doesn't feel like it's stretching too much. The fit is flattering and sleek. The fleece is really soft. I opted for the medium which fits well but i only wear a tank or thin undershirt underneath. It's a great layer piece, stretchy, and fits well underneath a hard shell. I don't know about the pilling yet but i hope it's not an issue. This is worth the money and especially on this website- all others i checked out were going for $140
I've worn my jacket multiple times and it has not pilled yet like another review. It's warm, close-fitting and the perfect length. It's less thick than what I expected (thus the 4 stars) but overall it's a great purchase. Really like it!
this is a fantastic jacket. i did not buy it in a medium, but i have it in a small and i am 5' 8" and have a very long torso. you will not be disappointed!
Super cute jacket! It fits snug though, but still comfortable. I ordered a Medium, may have liked a Large better, even though I usually wear a Medium. The thumb holes are perfect and at the perfect length! It is also very warm. Good purchase.
I normally don't bother to write reviews, but I have to say I love this jacket. It's long enough to always keep my back well covered, the sleeves are also long enough, even when using the thumb holes. It's a great fitted look without being tight. I can easily layer several pieces underneath it or just wear a tee-shirt under it. I'm 5'6 and about 118 pds. and the small fits perfect. I have washed it a bunch of times and looks just as good as the day it arrived. I've worn it skiing, running, sledding and to the yoga studio! I even wear it under my winter coat for those sub-zero days. You will stay warm.
This is my favorite Patagonia piece next to the Down Sweater. It's nice enough to wear out to dinner and yet warm and practical enough for lots of outdoor fun.
I'm very happy with this jacket - it's nice and long in the arms and torso, and the fleece is somehow densely knit enough that it's quite warm for the weight. The cut is slim, so it's easy to layer over and the hood does stay in place when you're moving around. The only downside I've found is exactly what another review pointed out - I wear it on it's own, and the fabric started to pill within a month at any point of abrasion (ie my backpack).
This is definitely a great layering piece. I bought it as an early spring jacket that I can layer with once the weather's cold again and it's been good so far. Fits true to size. I am usually a small/x-small and the small fits, though the arms are a bit long. The cut is great for layering, The hem curves way down in the back and covers my whole backside which looks a little odd when the jacket is the only layer I have on but will be great for winter sports. It's also started pilling quite a bit, again I've been wearing it as a jacket not an insulating layer. Looking forward to test driving it during ski season, I think it will be quite warm. Love the thumb holes. Overall I'm happy with it.
I primarily wear this jacket for indoor and outdoor climbing, and any other active moments during the midwest autumn weather. The thumbholes and fitted hood make the coverage of the jacket perfect. It frequently gets many compliments at the climbing gym.
Like a best friend, I felt instant warmth next to my skin the moment I put it on. I wore it on the coldest mornings in LA and took it along my trip to Rome and Zurich. It kept me warm wherever I went. The zipper allows easy access to ventilation, the hood provides a quick cover on wind and drizzle, and the thumbholes and extra sleeve lengths act as half gloves and sleeves don't curl up when putting on another jacket layer. The hem curves is a very nice cut that gives away an attractive front, back, and especially side views of the female figure.
