Patagonia's top-of-the-heap snow-riding pant is the Women's Untracked Pant, thanks to its waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex three-layer construction and an articulated women's-specific fit. Its stylish lines and soft, cozy brushed backer make it deluxe deep-snow gear. Mesh-lined thigh vents and DWR-treated gaiters let out excess heat and keep out pesky snow. A combination of slick taffeta and self-fabric lining repels moisture at the waist; and adjustable elastic tabs give you a customizable fit. Belt loops are key for fashionable freeskiers, and a cargo pocket adds a touch of sweet and functional.

Favorite ski pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 128 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

I bought these pants at the end of the season so I haven't tried them out in real cold weather, but they are amazing in spring slush, vents and taped seams kept me cool and dry, the fabric is super high quality. the fit is great, they were just the right length with my ski boots on, and the waist is a little higher so I know no snow will be getting down my pants. I imagine in the single and negative digits I'll just need to throw on a good baselayer and be good to go, I bought the medium which fits roomy enough for layers, without looking huge.

I have a pair of the insulated powder bowl pants, in regular fit, in my normal size and they fit plenty roomy through the hips, but just a tad tight in the waist. Has anyone tried on these and the powder bowl pants? Is the fit the same? I am not sure if I should size up or not...

Responded on

My wife has a pair of both and she wears the same size is each pant.

Awesome ski pants!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I generally don't like to wear insulated ski pants, I prefer to wear shell pants, then layer with a light or expedition weight base layer underneath depending on how warm or cool it is. I purchased these pants in Tempest Purple size medium; for reference I am 5'4" and 136 lbs with an athletic build. I absolutely love these ski pants. The fit is great, not too tight or too loose, plenty of articulation in the knee area, and the quality is superb. The length is perfect with ski boots on. The waist is a little higher, which is great on powder days or when I bend down to buckle my ski boots. My only complaint is that there is only 1 zippered cargo pocket on the front right leg, I prefer zippered cargo pockets on both legs. I have skied in these several times and they are comfortable and breathable. Buy them, you won't be disappointed. I also purchased the Untracked jacket to match, and it also fits like a dream.

Fancy Pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Pretty sure it is scientifically proven that having fly pants makes you shred 10x harder. At least that's what I've found with these babies - the number of lift-line catcalls I've received has sure increased since I upgraded from my blah gray softshell pants.

The fit is (surprisingly) awesome, considering my hit-or-miss experiences with Patagucci. Ample room in the thighs and legs without looking too steezy. Fairly high rise, but that's for the best when you somersault into a couloir in front of all of your friends. Your pride might be bruised, but your tush and lower back stay dry.

I typically wear a light merino base layer underneath - have skied them in -10F to 65F. While I haven't had a problem with them being too cold, sometimes on those long hikes they get a little bit warm: unzip the thigh vents and perfection!

I wish their jackets fit me this well.

XS is a true XS - I'm 5'3", athletic build, they fit great.

Great product

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Patagonia and Backcountry stand up to my expectations. The service is outstanding and the color, fit and quality of these ski pants are super. Just spent a week in Telluride in all conditions from very cold to 30's to blizzard and sunny conditions. I wore patagonia capillene 3 long underwear and a fleece pant underneath, never had any temperature issues. Thanks to Patagonia for a super product and to Back Country for super shipping and service.

Great pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I have used these pants twice in resort and once touring. I am 5'2" 115lbs with athletic legs and a smaller waist, I got the smalls and with a base layer they are a little long but otherwise fit perfectly. Comfortable to ski and hike in. My dream pant has two cargo pockets for storing snacks/hat/gloves/beacon, but the one cargo pocket works great. It is slightly off to the side, but works. I don't tend to overheat much so the vents with very fine mesh lining work great. I like the graphite/navy look. It is nice to have not have a black pant or one that is super bright. I have been picky and looking for new snow pants for the past 3 years and excited to finally find a pair that fit well and are functional.
