Fishing a new river often requires you to cover a lot of ground before finding the action, which is why Patagonia designed the Men's Ultralight Wading Boot. The synthetic leather uppers are lightweight and have mesh panels to quickly expel water, allowing your feet to feel light and nimble when you move upstream. Plus, the Rock Grip soles are made from a special sticky rubber compound for stable and secure traction in the most treacherous of boulder gardens.

  • Synthetic leather uppers are durable, lightweight, and have Venergy mesh panels that quickly drain water while keeping sand and silt out
  • Internal upper supports and a reinforced toe box resist pressure while you're wading in deep water
  • Molded EVA midsole provides cushion and support for all-day comfort
  • Sticky rubber Rock Grip sole provides stability and a secure footing on slick terrain
  • Sole is designed to hold fin straps and will accept studs (sold separately)

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I will be honest, I am a little bit of a Patagonia Fan Boy. Can you blame me? It's hard to find a company who's values are actually consistent with what most of us strive to accomplish. Add that to the fact that they arguably make some of the best and most durable clothing on the market, with a world class customer service and return policy, and they had me sold. When I bought these boots, I knew that they would not be as good as felt on the treacherous slippery rocks (I am willing to forgo felt to be more environmentally conscious) , but even with studs inserted, I still feel a bit vulnerable out there. They are fantastically light weight and feel like running shoes on your feet (good for those hard to reach money holes) but beware of the "sticky" title, as I have found that to be a bit exaggerated.

Hey Chris, I have found the Rock Grip boots to feel the same way (not so sticky). The studs that accompany the boots aren't the best though. I felt like I was ice skating a couple of times with them in! I've found that the Simms Studs are awesome. Remember, when you're in rivers with softer rocks that the carbide cleats are great, and for rivers with harder rocks the aluminum cleats are the best. Those have saved me a couple times and thought I would share it with ya.

Broken Lace Hooks

Broken Lace Hooks

As a first time user of Patagonia products, I am not impressed. The lace hooks broke the second time I went to use them. They were only 2 weeks old when this picture was taken. Will be returning them for Simms Boots
