The Patagonia Women's Traverse Softshell Jacket serves as a quick-and-light stretchy softshell for a wide variety of alpine uses. The durable, four-way stretch fabric gives you freedom of movement on a hike or climb, and it makes a nice outer layer for a warm day of backcountry touring. Just stuff the low-bulk Traverse Jacket in your pack for when the wind kicks up and the storm clouds start spitting sprinkles at you. Zip handwarmer pockets and a bicep pocket keep your essentials easily accessible, and the elastic cuffs and drawcord hem provide thorough protection from the elements.

Bottom Line: Slide into the Traverse Jacket and keep moving.

Hey,

I'm trying to decide whether to get this jacket or the Alpine Wind jacket for cycling, hiking and everyday use. Is there much difference between them? I prefer a slightly longer length so would the Traverse be better for that?

Thanks!

Gamma,
I prefer the Traverse to the Alpine Wind Jacket for cycling specifically. It breathes really well once you heat up, while still doing well against wind and rain. It's a trim fit which does well on the bike, and packs down super small to even fit in a jersey pocket. Hope the two answers help?... cheers

I like this jacket

This jacket is perfect for aerobic activity like speed walking, XC skiing, or cycling. It's not too warm since it is not insulated. I wear a long sleeve Patagonia base layer and a vest under it for the perfect mix of layers and just zip and unzip as needed. The sleeves are long enough to pull down over my hands if they get cold. I'm a pear shape and it fits true to size covering my bum without being tight. My only complaint is that it seems a bit tight in the shoulders but because it is a soft shell, it is flexible without being noisy, so I just try to ignore the shouder thing. It's great as a windbreaker but I have yet to wear it in the snow or rain. Great color, too!
