great fleece

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Well there isn't much I can say that the reviewers below haven't already said. I picked this up for myself and for a friend as a gift and we are both in love. So soft. so warm. love it. I would like to point out that this is designed to have a looser fit, so if you like that stay with your true size. You don't really need to go up a size to get the loose fit because it is designed that way. I am 5'2.5 about 120 lbs and ordered a small. I would order this again in multiple colors, super comfy. great product.

The Essential & COZY Patagonia Piece

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

Size reference: (Female) 5' 4.75", broad-ish shoulders, +1 Ape Index, 34A, generally size XS/S or 0.

FIT: I wanted a "boyfriend" fit in this jacket, & knew that my Patagonia Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece fit a bit snug, so I went with a size Small on this one. It is slightly bigger than I wanted, but still looks pretty good! Since it runs large (throughout), the XS would probably fit just right. As always, try it on in a store so you can guarantee the fit. I've found that in Patagonia's Regular fit I'm an XS & in their Slim fit I'm a S. I wash it about every few weeks, with no problems of shrinkage/stretching.

PROS: This is my GO-TO fleece. Patagonia is a great company and if you're thinking about getting a fleece, I recommend this one, hands down. It's a Patagonia classic, and if you treat it right (or... not) you'll (still) have it for years and years. Unlike their Re-Tool version, the wind has a lot harder of a time chilling you to the bone if you're wearing this. It's very soft and definitely lightweight considering how thick the fleece is and how warm it keeps me. In fact, if it's a chilly day (in the 40s/windy) I just throw this on. (I generally don't wear it as a mid-layer, e.g., when skiing, since it is quite bulky for a size S, & too [!] warm.) To me, the sometimes goofy color blocking & color selection make this piece timeless--it's simply an iconic Patagonia piece. And there's just something about the sound of those snaps! They're sturdy and easy to use.

CONS: If you want a hood, you might be able to fit into one of their men's Snap-T hoodies (they do make men's XS). But at the moment, it doesn't look like they make a hooded version for women, which is too bad. But, I still LOVE the look of the collar. Additionally, I would like a bigger chest pocket to hold my phone & wallet, but that's a minor issue I could fix myself. Finally, the cuffs on the sleeves are a bit abrasive & bother my wrists, but since the sleeves are LOOONG, I just flip them onto themselves!

What is the center back length of a medium?

Super rad

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I got the Guatemalan Tango print as a bday present. It was quite large so I had to exchange for a size down. I was a bit skeptical at first as to what makes a fleece worth that much money, but oh boy, was I wrong. I wore it Steelheading on a chilly November day and it kept me perfectly warm. It's really comfy, looks good, and feels like great quality. Totally and competely recommend.

Super rad

I really like that print. Nice fish!

If I wear a size large in North Face would I also take a size large in Patagonia?

Responded on

Hey Ashley,
Looks like Patagonia measurements for a size Large are:
Chest 38.5 - 40in, Waist 30.5 - 32in, Hip 41 - 42.5in
And North Face measurements for Large are:
Chest 39-40in, Waist 32-33in, Hip 40-43in

Subtle differences there, but I think the Patagonia size Large will work for you!

Responded on

I typically wear a medium in North Face, but found this to run really large. The medium was swimming on me. I'd for sure size down.

Solid top for the trail

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

This Patagonia Synchilla is my go to top for the trail. I've worn this through rain and snow for over 15 years as a mid layer in between long underwear and a rain shell. I mainly wear it at night while cooking over a fire or writing in my journal.

Best fleece out there!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

Finally decided to purchase a snap-t and I am definitely not disappointed. It's warm, comfy, and a looser fit. I went with a medium, and it's a little bigger than a medium would normally fit me, so it definitely runs a little larger, but I loved the baggier look, so it's perfect for sure!

Warm and Cozy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Forget your winter jacket on those cold, windy days, this coat will warm you right up. The fleece is very soft and helps to keep in that extra warmth. The breast pocket is surprisingly deep, I usually put my iPhone in it. I also enjoy the buttons so if you get too warm you can unbutton a little bit to let out some heat or buttoning it up all the way will help to keep the heat in. Whatever you want, both hot or cool, this coat has exactly what you need.
