    Like, Not Love

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Small

I like these shorts and use them mostly for running and hiking. I really like the short length especially when I am running during those hot days. My biggest complaint with these shorts is that the inner mesh is tighter than I would prefer. I wear a small in Patagonia, but it seems the sizing for these is a little off. I have worn these a few times and the mesh has stretched out a bit where it is more comfortable, but they are still snug.

Her Favorite Do it All Gym Shorts

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Finally she found her favorite pair of shorts to wear to the gym, and around the house in general. Not too crazy short and true to size. She is always a women's medium and the shorts werent any different.

    Great shorts!

I love these shorts, but the small I got was too small to even put on. The strange thing is I have the same shorts in a different color and same size in size small and they fit perfectly and these I couldn't even put on over my hips! I am returning them to get a larger size. I guess it's better to always try Patagonia clothes on before buying them.

      Too small, too tight

I ended up returning these because the fit was really funky on me. I'm a standard medium and these were way tighter and shorter than I was expecting. They also rode up in the front when walking around, which made these useless for hiking/running, my intended purpose. I really liked the lightweight fabric and stretch waistband, so if this cut fits you, I'm sure they would be a solid active short.

        Your New Favorite Short

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Large

These are by far my favorite shorts, hands down. I own 5 and would buy more in a heartbeat! The build in liners are game changers! The fabric is lightweight and breathable, almost like having nothing on!

I wear these for every activity under the sun (and water) including running, hiking, yoga, climbing, swimming, river adventures, SUP, camping, and hanging around the house. I take these everywhere and in the summer I never go more than a day without wearing a pair. Buy them, lots of them!

        Weird Fit

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: Small

I bought these shorts for my hiking vacation in Utah. I loved how these shorts looked, but was so disappointed by the fit. I ordered a Small, my usual size and the waistband was huge and the lining inside was super tight and the shorts stretched weird across my hips and butt which is always my smallest area and baggy in shorts. I don't know if I got a pair that was sewn oddly or what, but I had to send them back due to the weird fit. I loved the fabric and had such high hopes for these shorts because I love Patagonia, but I'll have to stick to my tried and true Nike (and Victoria's Secret) lined shorts for running!

        Great Basic Active Shorts

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love these shorts! They move super well with your body, don't roll or bunch, and breathe like you're wearing nothing. The liner works great for me, although makes it almost impossible to wear with full coverage underwear. These are my go to for any somewhat active summer day.

        Comfortable, breathable, flattering.

        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small

I ordered these shorts in the Navy/Pink in a size Small. I found the fit to be true-to-size, with a comfortable fit around the waistband (which is wider and more flattering than shorts with a thin elastic or drawstring waist). These shorts have breathable, built-in briefs that might run a bit on the snug side (e.g., around the leg holes). Overall, great shorts. I plan to use them for running and as board shorts on the water. They're much more flexible and soft than regular board shorts, which can be really stiff. I also bought the Patagonia Wavefarer shorts, and I think I actually like the Striders better!

5 Stars for Cute Style, 1 Star for Fit

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: Runs small

        Tom's Lady:

The shorts are super cute, especially when paired with a matching tank. However, as others have stated, the shorts fit weird. The waist band, leg openings and shorts themselves are fine. The liner is a different story. It's either too small or sewn wrong and doesn't fit the short. Sizing up didn't help as then the shorts were too big.

        Great all-around summer shorts

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small

I bought these shorts for a deep-sea fishing trip—I was tired of stiff board shorts but wanted something that would still dry fairly quickly. These were great! The waistband was perfect for me (I've read some negative reviews) and I really liked the looser fit of the leg area. Great for trail running, kayaking, sailing—whatever summer throws at you.

        Can't wait to try

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: Runs small

The wife purchased these, this is her take:
Just received these shorts in the mail and am excited to try them out. I have other Patagonia shorts that have become some of my faves, so I'm excited to add another pair to the rotation. The fit is a little more snug in the small, but I have found in the past that if I upgrade to a medium, they're too baggy. Materials are thin and lightweight so I'm hopeful they'll be perfect for summer!

        Expect better from Patagonia

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: Medium

I received these in the mail today, tried them on immediately and was so disappointed! The fit is poor. The seam under the waistband were the liner is sewn in is way too tight with no stretch. This made the shorts pull weird and bunch up. The waistband fit. The leg openings fit. I ordered my normal medium which I wear in my Patagonia barely baggies, Nike, Adidas, Champion, everything. I am more impressed with my $20 running shorts from Target. I'm usually a big fan of Patagonia's quality and am willing to spend the money, but these shorts are a disappointment for sure. The lining material is rough and itchy. The interior key pocket has no top flap to keep your stuff from bouncing out while you work out. Returning, so sad.

        Meh

I didn't love these shorts with how much everyone's raving about them. I waned to use them for running long distances and I found that the underlining was really tight and knew it would chafe instantly. A larger size may have helped but other than the underlining it fit good and felt like a bigger size wouldn't have fixed the problem.

          Love these shorts

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: XS

When I first saw them I was skeptical, they looked too thin but after trying them on they were perfect and you dont have to wear panties with the built in liner. Good job patagonia A+

          Great material, and very comfy!

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Small

Already I can tell that these shorts are going to be super comfy for summer activities, i.e. kayaking, hiking, sailing, motor boating. They feel completely different than the water/running shorts I've had before and the inner lining is super soft and not constricting like most shorts of this type. I am super pumped to get them going, I feel like they will be my number ones this summer!

          Great for climbing too

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Small

I've worn these several times climbing and so far these are the only shorts I've owned where the built-in underwear stays put. No need to wear underwear under these. I've lifted in these as well and they're pretty good except on squats (then I get a wedgie). The drawstring works well at keeping them in place and the length is perfect, although be aware there are two small slits along the side seams. Overall, super comfy, flattering, and breathable. I love them so much I bought 3 pairs. :)

I'm 5'5" and 128 lbs, with narrow hips and muscular legs/rear. The small fits perfectly.

          Great for climbing too
