From wet alpine trails to soggy trips to the market, the Patagonia Women’s Storm Light Jacket beats back the moisture thanks to its waterproof breathable H2No barrier. This casually styled shell features a hanging mesh liner that eliminates that wet-plastic-bag feeling of some rain jackets and a stowable, adjustable hood to keep your head dry. The microfleece-lined collar enhances the comfortable feel, and plenty of pockets store all your daily essentials. When the jacket finally expires after years of use, it’s fully recyclable through Patagonia’s Common Threads program.

Bottom Line: Versatile weather protection for moist occasions.

Nancy,
The Storm Jacket has a thicker shell material which is warmer and offers better wet weather protection that the Storm Light, while the Storm Light is more lightweight and packable.

Is this a warm coat or just mainly for moisture protection?

This coat is designed for warm weather use, so I doubt it will be very warm on its own. You can always layer though, and that might make it work for you.

actually the Storm Light Jacket is a great cool and cold weather piece as well. It's not insulated, but the hanging mesh lining on the interior of the shell adds some warmth and it does a great job keeping the wind and water out. Caleb's right that layering will help as well.
