If you've worn through your old Patagonia Men's Stand Up Shorts, we congratulate you, and offer you a new pair with an updated seven-inch inseam. Fact is, the Stand Up Shorts are tougher than stink and built to last, so we'd be surprised if your old pair wasn't still holding up. More than likely you just want a second pair, because you can't go a single summer day without reaching for the burly double-seat construction, huge rear pockets, and heavy cotton canvas that gets softer with age and use. A spare pair means you can put your old ones in the wash, maybe for the very first time. We won't tell.
Bottom Line: Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right to bulletproof Patagonia shorts.
I own three pairs of these shorts and wear them every chance I get. I've found that they are amazingly comfortable and durable, no complaints on either of these issues. I've gone climbing, hiking, swimming, and anything else outdoors I can think to do in these shorts and they are perfect. I also live in these shorts during the week (I'm a Florida boy, so shorts are a must) and cannot say anything bad about them. One note, I've found the shorts tend to loosen up a bit with use, so a little tight to begin with is not a bad thing. However, I wouldn't really recommend sizing down, they don't loosen up that much. Finally, I'm 5'10" and I've never had any complaints about the 7" inseam on my shorts. They fall right above my knee and leave me plenty of room to move around in, without looking like running shorts. But if that seems too short for you they're also offered in a 9" version...
I live in the southeast, so, needless to say, I live in shorts during the summer months. More specifically, I live in THESE shorts. They are sturdy, comfortable, and stylish. And yes, I am 17, and I like the short inseam. It's functional, if nothing else, not to mention that the fact that most high fashion labels (Dior, D&G, etc) favor shorter inseams.

I have owned three pairs of these Patagonia shorts during the past ten or twelve years. They are strong, comfortable and always in style. Unfortunately, they are hard to find--the last pair I purchased in Reno, before that in Santa Cruz and before that in Salt Lake City. Now am in Annapolis and can't find them--not even at your Patagonia Georgetown store. Can you help? Thank you and saludos, Rolando
I find the Manufacturer's Warranty of "Lifetime" rather amusing since they never state whose life they mean or how long a "lifetime" is. In any event, I have used up my THIRD stand up pair of shorts in twelve years--I can say without shame or guilt that I use and abuse them to the hilt and I can only find the highest of praise for them--they are strong, comfortable and always in style, yeah!. The last pair that gave its "lifetime" for me left me sadden and wanting--luckily, I soon found another pair at your Reno store. Now am in Annapolis searching for a pair to replace the current ones without any luck, no one carries them not even your Georgetown store. Can you help? Thank you and saludos, Rolando
My husband has 4 pairs (khaki, 2 blue pairs, and a green pair) of the short ones. He absolutely loves them. He wears them with everything... I wish they looked cool on me...
This is my fourth pair. These shorts are surprisingly very comfortable and cool given their tough exterior. Being a shorter man, the shorter inseam works good for me. All Patagonia products I've purchased have great durability.
need to be at least 11". Patagonia is way behind the times..maybe they need to hire some younger people. If there is a reason that some outdoor people must have such a short length, (maybe to climb mountains?), then fine...but offer this nice heavy short in a longer inseam and attract the other 99% of the short buying population. Then hire me as president when sales go thru the roof
OK.. I am 48 yrs old...I wear shorts probably every day for 8 months each year untill it gets too cold and I am forced to wear long pants to work so I don't look silly and freeze to death. But for 8 glorious months I wear shorts every second of every day. I like good sturdy shorts that are tough & don't care what they cost as long as they are tough.I always remember the pair of Patagonia Stand up shorts I owned 20 years ago & was recently looking to buy a pair - but even guys my age need an 11" inseam these days. The 7.5 inseam would make anyone look like a goofball this day & age. My teenage kids would ridicule me to death if I stepped outside with "short" shorts...C'mon Patagonia, let's lengthen that inseam on an otherwise terrific short. Oh...and stop supporting the radical environmental group "Earth First" they sabatoge others' property - & loggers and lumber mill workers need to make a living too. Sustained yield logging has been going on long before the smelly hippies got support from you to sit in other people's trees. They can sit in a tree in one of the thousands of acres of National Forest.
