No Carrharts, but much more satisfying.

I will openly admit that I thoroughly enjoy the "toughness" of these pants. The canvas material is tough (and a bit stiff, but I'm working on it), and the doubled knees and seat, I feel, add quite a bit of durability. Despite the added thickness and weight of these pants, they do not feel cumbersome. I highly recommend them.

The main issue I have, and it's minor, is the sizing. I ordered a size 30" and the waist is just a smidgeon too large. It's on the cusp of requiring a belt. I'd say it's about a 30.5", possibly pushing 31". Also, the inseam length was not specified. From reading the sizing charts on the Patagonia website, I was under the impression that a "small" (30") has 30" inseams. My pants, unfortunately, are 32". I will have to have them hemmed, which may pose a problem since there is an additional reinforcing along the back of the cuff. However, this is the owner's fault for not checking the sizing properly. The pants are great.

If you are having doubts, buy a pair now! Upon receiving them, all your worries will be gone.
