Here's what others have to say...

very comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I ultimately returned this fleece, but only because I wasn't satisfied with the color. It's heavy duty material, very warm and comfortable for what it is. I'm 6'2, 183 lbs., and the large fit me just fine, leaving enough room for a couple of layers underneath.

very nice light and warm. fit size well

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Patagonia is a great brand name and it deserves this. the price is a bit expensive but after bought and tried on it, you could right away feel the difference compared to others. light, warm, fitted and fashion combined all so very well. The color is shine and sustained after couple of washes and it still is like a new. absolutely worth of its price and name. I like it.

Doesn't get much better than this.

Super versatile, great fitting, great looking fleece.
Solid weight to warmth ratio. With a classy unobtrusive design I've gotten plenty of compliments. Fits well under an outer shell.

I'm 6'2" 165 lbs. and I got a Medium. Length is great, comes down 6" below my belt, sleeves come to just above my knuckles when my arms are down, just over my wrist when my arm is raised (which is nice for climbing because my wrists won't be exposed). Typical of Patagonia, this jacket has a much better cut than a North Face, more tapered to the human form so you don't look like you're wearing a sarape--- but not so tight that you couldn't wear a couple layers underneath and still have room for adequate movement.

Pockets double as ventilation, easily dumping heat if you become too hot.

I bought it in the spring and have not taken it out in the fall/winter so can't attest to its warmth under extreme conditions, but it held up well on a chilly spring day (50's) with only a t-shirt underneath.

Simple elegance

One of the best pieces I've owned. Fits well, keeps me warm and survives abuse. Only improvement would be a bigger tang on the zipper so it is easier to find with cold fingers.

I'm looking at this for my husband. He's 6'2" and 270, normally wears an XL, but I'm curious if it would be better to get him XXL. Any thoughts?

It says the fleece is midweight. Is that 200 wt? Also, small or medium for 5'9" 160 lbs? thanks

Responded on

Yes the Simple Synchilla is 200 weight.
And medium would fit you the best.

Patagonia Fleece Jacket

Overall, this jacket fits well and is warm. There is not a cinch cord to tighten the bottom of the jacket but for me it is not a problem. I would not pay $120 for this jacket but $71 is a good price. In my opinion, Patagonia clothing is overpriced but on sale it is reasonable.

no bang for your buck

its alright but nothing special the one thing that really pisted me off were there are no draw strings on these patagonia fleeces.
