Zip up the Patagonia Men's Simple Synchilla Jacket when you need a lightweight, comfortable fleece without all the techy frills or monster price tag. Patagonia made this casual midweight jacket with 85% recycled polyester fleece for everything from hanging out by the woodstove to layering up on a backpacking trip. The Simple Synchilla's dense construction resists wind and holds in warmth. When you've put this jacket through the grinder, send it back to Patagonia to be recycled through the Common Threads Recycling Program.
Bottom Line: A comfortable and basic fleece that's both recycled and recyclable.
this is all you could ask for in a fleece. I am 6'0 tall, 200lbs and the L fit me perfectly. The breast zip-pocket is pleasantly larger than expected, and the other pockets are good size too. I went on an overnight hike last weekend and the weather got down to 38F and windy, and the fleece kept me warm enough to keep my shell in my pack. Definitely would recommend. Cheers!
This fleece is absolutely wonderful. I hardly take this thing off (unless my girlfriend steals it from me!). This is a mid-weight fleece so it doesn't block the wind, of course. Just throw a shell over it for that. Nice and lightweight for layering. For a cold day I usually throw on a level 2 or 3 Capilene, my Synchilla Fleece, and then a shell. Keeps me warm and dry all day. Patagonia makes some of the best gear out there and you can feel good about buying from a company who is as dedicated to the environment as they are their gear. Thanks BC for a great price too!

I bought this jacket for my boyfriend and it is perfect. It is a great quality fleece and has a good fit. Very warm. Has long arms which are hard to find.
I left my (roughly) comparable North Face jacket in a taxi in Paris. So when I got back home, I started browsing the web to see if I could replace it. The closest I could find was this Patagonia version. And much to my delight, it has exceeded not only my expectations, but my old North Face one, as well.
It has a terrific comfort range - from 40-degree days (of which we've had far too many this cold 2011 spring!) to lounging around a cool house.
The other feature I need is a breast pocket for cell phone and/or wallet, so that ruled out a lot of other brands.
This jackets replaces a much older synchilla jacket which has proven to be bullet proof.. I bought the new one for casual wear in cool weather and it works fine for that. A drawcord hem is a nice feature. It features the usual Patagonia quality. Like most Patagonia clothing I own, it does run pretty large- my medium is pretty bulky on me (5'11" 150) so size accordingly. If I were buying one for layering under a shell I'd get a small. Only niggle is the jacket -- after two washings-- leaves a patina of red fleece filaments over other clothes- presumably these aren't lodging in my lungs at the same time. And I do wonder why Patagonia has to take American made fleece and ship it all the way to South America to have it sown and then ship it back to the US for distribution- not very green sounding to me.
Great jacket like all Patagonia gear but it runs large I am a 43 reg and it's big on me but I have not washed it yet it may shrink then. Warm and well made. Reminds me of the first one I had back in 1991!
Good quality fleece jacket. I have used it as a layer under a shell for snowboarding, backpacking, and around town during snow storms. Does not block a breeze but it is great in a tent, or any other cool place out of the elements. I am 61 180 lb a 42-44 chest. I wear a large. Its not too baggy could be a little bit tighter especially for wearing under another jacket. I think the medium was too small/tight for casual wear.
Wonderful!! My son loved his new fleece. It is very stylish and fits him great. He had a Northface but thinks this jacked fits much better :) Santa was good this year.
If you are looking for a lightweight fleece that doesn't block the wind than this is it. It is very comfortable, practical, and great looking. It has long arms, which you are tall. I'm 6'4" and wear a large and the sleeves are the perfect length.
love it! great to wear in the low 40's and below that just layer it with a light sweatshirt and it keeps you warm and toasty. Exteremly soft, comfortable and looks great. I'll have this fleece for a long time.
This is a great fleece, my first experience with Patagonia and I love it. The jacket keeps me perfectly warm and I can layer it when the temp drops to low. I love how soft it is. My one issue with it is how much it sheds. I wore it before i washed it and it shed all over my khaki pants and my white t-shirt. I then washed it and puff dried it with no heat to get the fluff out, but that didn't really help. It has shed less and less the more i wear it but it was certainly annoying in the beginning. Other than that great jacket and i would recommend it!
The jacket does not resist the wind as stated....I also purchased a Helly Hansen Fleece.....much cheaper and better wind blocking capabilities..........I bought the jacket for use while STEELHEAD fishing.......weather is usually cold and windy....although layered properly....the wind was coming right on in.........just my opinion.....I wore a Patagonia rain jacket over the top and problem solved.....stayed warm and the rain jacket kept the wind out.......not the fleece
well duh, if you want a wind stopping fleece look somewhere else, this is more of a casual piece. Don't complain about something that it wasn't made to do, like wind protection, water or anything other than pure warmth.
this is all you could ask for in a fleece. I am 6'0 tall, 200lbs and the L fit me perfectly. The breast zip-pocket is pleasantly larger than expected, more...
