Whether you rage in the park, head for the summit, or tour the backcountry, the Patagonia Men’s Sidewall Pant will let you do it with style and protection. Patagonia made the Sidewall with a loose-fit, partially recycled polyester shell and a waterproof breathable H2No barrier to fend off any form of moisture, and its inseam zip vents dump excess heat on the skin track. The Sidewall also features adjustable gaiters to seal out pow and waist loops that connect to any Patagonia ski jacket.

Bottom Line: A fresh, protective pant for any line on the mountain.

Softshell = Summer Comfy

By:
July 19, 2010

Just spent a solid three days out on the Palmer glacier (well, snowfield) at Mt. Hood and brought these along as a lightweight and comfortable pant to wear through the chilly mornings and into the warm afternoons. The pants performed well with the mesh zip vents gently cooling the leg insides. THESE FIT BAGGY - as other reviews have said - not ridiculous-knuckle-dragger-just-got-out-of-prison-and-still-don't-have-a-belt-baggy, but be aware of that all the same. More durable and waterproof is your desire? Check out the Primo for ultra light and Powder Bowl for more normal ski-pant weight.

Great Value

I not a weight obsessed skier. Patagonia gear is bomb proof, whats more is these pants are a 2 layer water proof pant with thigh vents for under $200.00 you can't go wrong!! If I designed them I would modify the lower leg to cinch down around the boot, if you're postholing the pant leg comes up. Other than that great ski pants!

Great pants

By:

These pants are great. Originally thought they might be too small but after the first day, I was putting on a pair of suspenders to keep them on my hips. Cuff goes over the boots nicely and gaiter works well. I use them at the resorts and in WV backcountry where the tours are always longer than the descents, so I've pushed their upper limits in terms of weight, breathability, and temperature. I have no complaints. Always cool and always dry. And the heaviness of the fabric gives me a little more confidence mowing through the trees and scrub. Awesome roomy pockets, too.

Nice inbounds pants

By:

Solid all around. Like the other reviewer said, size runs a little large, I am a 34" waist and ordered the large, which was a little baggier than I expected but still fits. Sturdy fabric, with nice details like adjustable snow gaiters, reinforced fabric around the bottom cuff and big thigh vents that actually move air. Only complaint is they are a tad heavy and baggy for BC use.

Patagonia does it again

By:

I was skeptical to replace my Primo pants from a few years back, but I have to say, these are even better. They're baggy, but not "snowboarder" baggy, and I love the hip pocket. Belt loops are a must as the size range is pretty large, but they do have velcro adjustments, too. As far as performance goes, no complaints. Just layer appropriately with the right long underwear and you're good to go.
