You can’t blame the Patagonia Women’s Sidewall Jacket for holding you back during your freeriding sessions—this flexible shell’s relaxed fit and articulated arms are all for aerials. Patagonia uses a H2No barrier and DWR finish to repel moisture, while the removable hood and neck gasket on the Sidewall mount a tough defense against wind and driving snow. Generous Underarm zips allow for lightning-quick cool-downs when you’re booting uphill for a fresh line, and a pow skirt keeps you dry on the way down.

Bottom Line: Matches the reinforced sidewalls on your twintips.

Since the women's sidewall jacket is only water resistant

Since the women's sidewall jacket is only water resistant not waterproof and doesn't have insulation, will it still be warm in rainy-wet conditions?

Emily,
The Sidewall Jacket is totally waterproof and will absolutely keep you warm and dry in rainy-wet conditions. It's got Patagonia's H2No waterproof membrane that works really well.

If you are worried about staying warm in wet conditions and this jacket is only water resistant, I would look elsewhere.

I spent A LOT of time looking for the jacket I wanted. What did I want? A comfy fit, plenty of pockets, versatile warmth, a longer cut, colorful so my kids could find me and a fashionable but classic look so I can wear it for another 15 years. I didn't want something that looked like I belonged on a ski slope or anything too trendy because that is not fashionable for the long term. I was worried about the length and the plaid pattern . . . would it make me look huge? It didn't. The color is even prettier in person and the pattern is classic. The cut is feminine without being restrictive and I can wear it alone and be warm in active conditions or layer it up and it'll provide a wind barrier. I love being able to remove the hood but when on it shields snow fall perfectly. The pockets are plentiful and well positioned. I didn't realize how much I'd love the snow skirt which keeps the jacket in place with great success. I get oohs and awes from some pretty fashionable people so I'd say the look is good. I love it and although it would have been great to get it on sale . . . I feel the full price I paid was worth every penny. Something cheaper would in my opinion been simply . . . cheaper.

The Patagonia Sidewall jacket is not seam taped. How does that

The Patagonia Sidewall jacket is not seam taped. How does that affect

Actually the Sidewall Jacket is fully seam taped and waterproof, and uses Patagonia's waterproof/breatheable membrane H2No.

It's not waterproof, just water resistant. The fabric itself isn't fully waterproof, so it doesn't make sense for the seams to be.

six layers??!!?? thats crazy...you should always wear a moisture wicking baselayer (like capilene 3) and then a midlayer. your midlayer is usually a fleece--and you can change the weight depending on how cold it is (ex. patagonia's regulator series--either the R1, R2, R3, or R4 jackets. last layer is your shell to water and windproof. Three layers is all you need and patagonia's sizing is designed to accommodate those layers.
