This water-repellent down jacket excels in the dry powder that's common in the Rocky Mountains. Patagonia stuffed the Rubicon with high-loft European down, surrounded it with a durable nylon shell, and gave it a polyurethane coating and durable-water-repellent finish to keep moisture out. Underarm zips let you unload body heat when you work hard skinning up a ridge, and the powder skirt and neck gasket keep drafts and white fluff out as you ride down.

It's not near that long. This jacket, the right size, will probably go down to the bottom of your bottom but that's about it.Center back length = 28 3/4" size medium.

HiSo how water resistant is this jacket. I ski in the east and it can go from snowing to rain very quickly. I understand it is not gore tex but what can I expect?ThanksDoug

Probably half an hour in medium-heavy rain and it would be notably less insulative.
