A pant worthy of maestros of the crag.

You can float up Astroman's Enduro Corner with finesse and style, but when it comes to the Harding Slot, it's best just to grovel. Whether you're moving like a rock star or are in full body limbo, Patagonia's Rock Craft Pant will keep up the pace with its tough, stretchy fabric blend of 96% nylon and 4% spandex. It has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to shed afternoon thunderstorms and life-of-the-garment 40-UPF sun protection. Articulated knees and a gusseted crotch let you move your legs freely, while offset belt loops and a low-profile front snap add harness compatibility. The five-pocket design includes two pockets in front, two in back and one on the thigh.

  • Lightweight stretch-woven nylon/spandex with a Deluge DWR finish
  • and 40-UPF sun protection
  • Belt loops; zip fly with metal snap closure
  • Pockets: two front; two rear with envelope closures; right thigh patch
  • zippered pocket
  • Gusseted crotch and articulated knees

Great pants, until they aren't

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

Well, I always like to start off with the good:

These pants are comfortable, lightweight, breathable, stretchy, and seem to do a kick ass job (assuming you don't climb much).

The bad:

Who puts a sensitive button at the waist, I mean really? I have a 31" waist and wear 32" pants...not exactly maxin' em out, but they tend to unbutton rather easily.

Currently on my third pair of these as warrantied by Patagonia. Thank GOD they stand by their product, because the butt in these keeps blowing out for me, same with the pockets. I have had friends with the same pants and same problems, sized appropriately as well.

I climb 150+ days a year and am quite disappointed by the durability of what surely would be a best-in-class product.

Great Climbing Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are a very comfortable pant for rock climbing. The fabric stretches well, so they do not restrict any movement. Also, the cut is nice, they are not too tight and do not feel baggy. There is a zippered thigh pocket, as well as back pocket with flaps to keep items in, and not fall out.

The material is a lot tougher than I expected them to be, as well as slightly water resistant. I once saw a review, saying the pant button was too big and uncomfortable with a harness and I do not think this is the case.
