Snap front makes it unusable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These pants are very comfortable, and I am impressed with their ability to stretch without bunching. Unfortunately, the snap at the top of the fly has a tendency to pop open when you're high stepping or heal hooking. This makes the climb uncomfortable, slow, and awkward.

I still wear them as general camping pants, but they are a hassle when climbing, scrambling, or hiking.

Not true to size

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

These pants are not the same size as their other rock climbing pants. Basically the hip size is smaller than the similar Patagonia pair that I already have. Same material. However they are inferior in 2 ways:

1) The hip size is too tight for climbing in. They should be a lot looser to allow for moves

2) You have to use a belt with them. The other types have a draw-string which is by far more convenient.

The material is good and stretchy which is why I ordered them.

I bought these elsewhere in a size 31 and love them. Does Backcountry sell them in that size? (I don't see any odd-numbered sizes.)

Unfortunately BC doesn't carry odd sizes often, if at all.

Yea I've never seen them in odd sizes either, cause i'm a size 33.
