Great waders, hard to size

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I'm 6'1" and 178lbs with a size 11 foot. Based on the sizing chart, I ordered a size L/Reg at first only to find them too long in the inseam and riding uncomfortably high in the crotch (even with the shoulder straps lengthened as much as possible). They were extremely large in the chest as well, but that was someone expected based on my chest size (40.5"). I then tried the M/Long and M/Reg and the M/Reg fit just right. I'm hoping the booties don't wear prematurely from sticking my big feet in them, but all-around, I'm very happy with these waders.
Great all around waders

I trust anything from patagonia, all their products are well built. Ifyour using these in fridgid water make sure you layer up. They are fine with long jons and jeans under them. Check the size when ordering im usually a large but medium worked better for me im 5'10 170ibs and thre mt fits great/\

Used these waders for a week of steelhead fishing in 35 degree water in Upstate Ny. They kept me comfortable and dry all week. Great Waders!

These are by far my favorite waders, after years with the "other" wader brand. They fit great- I was between a M and L and went M and it works great. Love the padded knees, pockets and suspender system. The booties are really warm and a 1000x more comfortable than your standard neoprene.

I like these Patagonia Rio Gallegos Waders quite a bit. I've been out in them several times and they feel pretty durable. My only complaint is that the suspenders don't have clips, so you have to pull the straps aside to get in and out of the waders.

I got a medium Short. I also have a 31 inseam. While I like not having baggy waders while I'm standing in the river, I do often wish I had purchased the Medium regular when I'm hiking in.

probably should have gone medium regular. I have a 29-30 inseam and they fit me great all around hiking/getting in and out of the drift boat.
Nice Waders

These waders are definitely a bit of an investment but they are worth it. I've had a great experience with Patagonia's warranty policy. Waders take their share of abuse and so the lifetime warranty offsets the price some in my opinion. The waders are very comfortable and I am able to fish all day in cold winter waters with just a little layering underneath. One thing that I would like to mention in regard to sizing is that they have the ability to adjust quite a bit to different body shapes/sizes. I am 5'8'' , 160 lbs and normally M or S equipment fits well. These waders seem to be designed for thicker body types than mine (following the trend in size inflation?) as the XS Reg fit perfectly.

I'd agree with your assessment that they are made for thicker people. I am 6'1" 185#, 43" chest and I had to exchange my Large Regular for a Medium Long.

Could you elaborate on your experience with the Patagonia warranty? Thanks.

MattB - I am roughly the same build as you (6'2" and 42" chest but same weight). What size shoes do you wear and what is your inseam? Trying to determine if the Medium Long would be the right fit. Also, are you wearing these year-round (e.g. is there enough room to layer under them in the colder months)?
