Rock climbing today demands clothing that allows for full freedom of movement but doesn’t make you look like a tech dork when you go out for a beer after. Enter the Patagonia Men’s Retro Grade Pant. Made with organic cotton and a touch of spandex for stretch, this soft, comfortable pant performs as well on long rock pitches and hard boulders as it does on the barstool. Designed with the help of Canadian rock ace Sonnie Trotter, the Retro Grade features a full-length gusset and a harness-friendly waist with an internal drawcord for total comfort on or off the stone.

Bottom Line: Climbing is a lifestyle, and the Retro Grade Pant is in full support of it.

Great fabric good looking.... TOO SHORT!!

By:
December 7, 2010

I got hyped up on this ones, ordered them .. and well they were too short for me, other brands fit me just well, this one looks great but unfortunately they weren't... i didn't washed them but I am afraid if i had done so they would have shrunk even more, sizing is off but if you are not tall this would be a killer option

Perfect.

Seriously. Perfect. I love the unique material. It looks and feels like cotton. However, breathes substantially better and dries much faster.
Great color choices.
Functional, but still stylish.
I had no fitment issues (even after a wash). For reference I am a 30W/32L normally, and the mediums fit perfectly with a relaxed fit.

All this and less!

By:

Put simply these pants feel great, but their crappy sizing, not to mention the silly drawstring with belt loops, caused me to return them. Washing in cold water and hanging dry made no difference. The waist was fine, but the inseam shrank 2 sizes. Yikes!

Patagonia Retro Grade Pant - Men's

By:

These pants are comfortable yet formal enough for that meeting with your next potential boss. The only complaint I would have is that the sizing doesn't seem consistent with other Patagonia pants. I'm typically a medium in Patagonia pants, so I order a medium. I had to return them and order a large. The large was just right in the length, but WAY to big in the waist; good thing they have a drawstring. Other than that, they are great. The huge gusset allows for full range of motion for the adventure of your choice. Good buy.

Great Pants if they'd fix the sizing issues

By:

These would easily be my favorite pants if Patagonia would fix the horrible sizing problems. Most Patagonia clothing fits me great; I typically wear Medium pants and Large tops. As the other reviewers have said, the length is a bit short to begin with, then shrinks more than I've ever seen a pair of pants shrink after you wash them. My first pair was a medium, and they ended up shrinking 4" after several washes! Like another reviewer, I ended up with a Large, which is just barely long enough, but way too big in the waist. Patagonia: PLEASE FIX THE SIZING ISSUES! I could easily handle 4-5" added to the inseam length, and I'll personally buy several pairs!

Patagonia Retro Grade Pant - Men's

Awesome pants but like the other review, the sizing sucks. I say buy one size bigger than you normally are. Waist will be too big but you'll just have to deal with it.
