The Patagonia Men's Ready Mix Jacket's clean, lightweight construction continues to gather praise from ice climbers and alpinists everywhere. This Patagonia windproof and highly water-resistant shell breathes well to keep climbers from overheating when they top a pitch of WI5 or finish a 30-hour alpine push. Ounce-counting-obsessed mountain travelers love the welded seams and thoughtful construction that cut the Ready Mix Jacket's weight to only 15 ounces. This is the softshell of choice for those who live and climb by the fast-and-light credo.
Bottom Line: Experience the legendary performance of the Patagonia Ready Mix Jacket.
I have always loved Patagonia clothing. Even though it's spendy, and a bit on the trendy side, it works, and they have a lifetime warranty. This jacket is exactly the color, size and fit that I wanted. A great Spring shell for hiking, backcountry days. I was a bit surprised by the thin material in the sleeves, but with a nice vest, it'll do just great. Great price, Great coat.
This is a brilliant execution of Patagonia's light-and-fast alpine philosophy: welded seams, only the pockets you need which double as vents, fabric just thick enough. Decent stretch and this dries faster than Scholler or Gore Windstopper. My favorite jacket. A jacket for people who use it for its intended purpose: Alpine climbing. 5 stars hands-down.
Fritz, the ready mix isn't a rain jacket and isn't intended to stand up to a downpour. It has a DWR coating but it's meant for activities where you're more worried about breathability than waterproofing- when you need a shell but a traditional 3 layer gtx or similar shell is going to turn into a sauna. You should have read up on what you were buying and its intended usage before you clicked "buy"

This is my favorite jacket, and I have a few of them. I use it biking, climbing, skiing, backpacking or just casually. It has kept me dry in everything except consistent hard rain. Owned it for a year now and put some hard use on it and it is still holding up very well. Could have a bit more stretch to it though. Sizing is narrow and long like most of Patagonia stuff. Those with broad big shoulders might size up one or try on first. A great jacket for sure. Fitting is true to size, I am 6'2 175 pounds and wear a medium.
I've owned this jacket for about a year. Exceptionally light weight, quality Patagonia finish and detailing, nice pockets/vents, awesome hood can be adjusted for any conditions, some nice stretch in the right places, solid construction shows little wear after 12 months. Only complaint: Not at all waterproof; barely water repellant. The stretch panels, especially at the elbows, soak quickly (within 10 minutes in a light rain) leaving you with wet arms and shoulders. Better suited for dry climates.
Patagonia really has a leg-up over the competition when it comes to functional clothing. The drawstring adjustment for the hood on this jacket is beyond clever. Rather than adjusting from the chin area, the shock-cord is pulled from inside the jacket pockets! The fit of the hood is really great too: it conforms nicely to the helmet when wearing one.
i ordered this jacket to wear for backcountry skiing, hiking, ice climbing and some mountaineering. and so far this jacket is great at regulating my heat. its a really cool jacket to layer with. iv worn this jack in temperature ranges form the single digits to the 40s, (when its cold remember that belay jacket). and always stayed perfectly balanced. my biggest qualm with this jacket is that is so light weight(paper thin). i am really worried about the durability. i would not be cool to rip the sleeve on a multi pitch alpine route. i have Patagonia's simple guide pant which are also rated as lightweight and they are 4 times as thick as this coat. the bottom line is its a really good soft shell that breaths really well. but the durability is in question. i would suggest checking it out in person before ordering it
