This lightweight pant stashes away in your pack unnoticed until the rain starts to fall. The tear-resistant nylon fabric sports a DWR finish and H2No barrier to ensure you stay dry, and the raised pattern on the interior of the pant channels moisture away from your skin when you heat up. Open up the storm-flap protected side zips to dump excess heat, and safely stash your essentials in the four pockets.

Great rain pant and good all around hard shell for many conditions. All you need for pursuits with varying altitude and conditions if you want to cut down on weight. Good light weight alternative to 3 layer hard shells. Turn them inside out to dry faster.
yes, the side zips on the Rain Shadow Pants offer venting, as well as extra room to get boots on or off. great pair of rain pants to have

Back country spec descritpion messed up

The BC specs section messed up when they wrote there are pockets on these pants; none there. But wish they had'em. Besides this foul-up they're okay pants - improved from previous pull-on models now that they have button + zipper fly. Good tool for all purpose rain/foul weather protection.

Had a couple of hikes during the late summer while there was a light to steady rain. Pants did fine with the rain:however, breathable might not be one its strong points. They seem to get a little hot but not so bad to give pants poor review.
Well made with good materials but performance could be better.
Three stars for "average performing $100 rainpants".
