R1 Women's Pants by Patagonia are a warm alternative to other bottoms. Patagonia's R1 insulation traps warm air to keep your body temperature constant. With an emphasis on negative space, these pants are warmer and lighter than thick fleece pants. A smooth surface layers well and allows these pants to be worn alone. The R1 now features an improved cut for layering or cold-weather running.
Bottom Line: Many ladies need a warmer pair of pants, are you one?

I had a pair and they were so great I bought some for my wife. These are the warmest midwieght pants you'll ever wear. I used to wear Duofold long underwear and fleece sweats under my ski pants. Now all I have to wear is these toasty little babies. Make sure it's cold out if you plan to do any strenuous activity because these pants are hot hot hot!

I wore it during my Alaska trip recently. It really kept me warm. I hiked with it on, very flexible, getting a little too warm, but not unbearable, since I guess it's quite breathable.
If you are sure the weather will not be too cold, maybe find a thinner one. But it's good to always bring it, just in case.

I was hesitant buying a pair of pants for $80, but they are so warm that they are worth every penny. They have non-pinching waistband and ankles, tapered to match your body. I would consider this a little heavier than medium weight, great for those snowy days on the slopes.
