From a midlayer on your winter ascents to a lightweight jacket on spring mornings or alpine summer evenings, the Patagonia Men’s R1 Full-Zip Fleece Jacket finds its way into just about any activity. The stretchy and breathable Polartech Power Dry fabric prevents wind from chilling you to the bone, and it wicks moisture away from your skin when you start to sweat. The grid polyester design makes the R1 easily compressible, and the two zippered hand-warmer pockets protect your essentials from the elements.

Bottom Line: Makes other fleece look like fuzz balls.

R1 is #1

This is a jacket that you can use practically year round no matter where you live and no matter what you do. It's my mid layer in the winter, around the house/town jacket all the time, and my go to jacket for chilly summer nights. The open grid on the inside of the fleece makes it very versatile for keeping you warm when you need it to, and cooling you off as well by moving the air through the grid and out the fleece. It dries incredibly quickly too, you can drop water on it and watch the fabric move the water out across the surface and dry right in front of your eyes. It doesn't protect against the wind that well, but
layer a Patagonia Houdini or Alpine Wind Jacket over your R1 and you're good to go for all but the chilliest outings.

Everyone I know who owns one has it at the top of their list of favorite clothing. Plus you can't go wrong with Patagonia's warranty and environmental ethics as well.

Lightweight, but warm. Perfect layering garment. Breathable. Quick drying.

The waffle grid pattern makes it very compressible. Pocket zips do not get in the way of pack belts.

Athletic cut. (I wish the collar came up a little higher.)

Nice weight for cool summer evenings.

From the description and the recommended use the fleece weight of this jacket is around 200-300 weight, probably falls somewhere in the middle.

I wish there was a size between the medium and large. I'm 5'10 and 170lbs with a medium build. The medium seems too snug in the shoulders and the large too baggy all around. Otherwise it is a nice jacket.

Limitless Uses

What a great fleece! I wear mine year round and almost daily. Its a great jacket to use as a layer under shells for skiing to heading to your local pub on a cool summer evening. The fit is amazingly comfy and cozy. Another great thing about it is the amount of stretch you get out of it when participating in active sports. All-around a great jacket that I would recommend to a buddy or anyone looking for a great versatile fleece. Snag one for yourself!

Great peice of gear

The waffle style insulation on the inside works exceptionally well at regulating temperature. Plus, the fact that the insulating fibers are on the inside makes it so the material doesn't end up looking like an old bath mat after a while like other fleece material does. The full length zipper is awesome too. I really love my merino insulating layers but this one is probably my favorite even though its polyester.

Lightweight and super comfy

Excellent mid-layer jacket! I find many fleece jackets too warm to wear under a shell when I'm moving around. The R1 is thin enough to wear when walking/skiing, yet warm enough too keep the chill out when it's below freezing.
