Description

Ready for anything.

Like its sibling, the Primo Pant, the Patagonia Primo Jacket is Patagonia's toughest weatherproof ski and snowboard jacket. From its super-tough recycled nylon main body fabric to its 3-layer Gore Tex laminate, you know the Primo jacket will be around for a while. And, as always, Gore Tex means guaranteed waterproof and guaranteed breathable, so you can handle anything that nature throws your way without feeling moist and clammy.

Patagonia didn't hold back when it designed the Primo jacket. Gore-Tex 3-Layer represents the absolute best that the industry has to offer. The main body fabric is recycled nylon—known for its durability. The helmet-compatible, 2-way-adjustable fixed hood has a laminated visor for optimal visibility in bad conditions. Patagonia's patented Touch Point System embeds the cord locks in the hood and hem for quick adjustment. Patagonia also equipped the Primo with a sleek, low-profile powder skirt that stays in place whether secured or not. The powder skirt also features a loop of nylon webbing that connects to any Patagonia Snow pants to form a single powder barrier.

The Primo jacket's fit is Progressive, which is Patagonia-speak for loose. The highly articulated fit moves with you while you hike or ski and feels comfortable and natural, and the articulated elbows and gusseted cuff fits easily and comfortably over or under gloves. Zippered underarm vents make it easy to dump heat when you need to. Patagonia finished the jacket off with a Recco reflector, which aids in search and rescue should you become involved in an in-bounds avalanche.

  • Tough recycled nylon face fabric with Gore-Tex 3-Layer membrane and DWR
  • Progressive (loose) fit
  • Mesh-lined underarm vents
  • Helmet-compatible hood
  • Coated, watertight Slim Zips
  • Loop on stretch powder skirt to attach any Patagonia Snow pant
  • 2 hand pockets, 1 chest pocket, 1 media pocket, 1 sleeve pocket, 2 internal pockets

Hi
Is this years primo the exact same fit as the model before it?
exact same length and size specs?
Is it only zippers/pockets/powder skirt and the hood that has been changed?
Is there a spec sheet for the measurements of the jacket and the older model jacket?
Also is this the same fit and size as the untracked jacket?

cheers Jack

Styled out protection

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The Primo jacket is just as its named. Feels like an impenetrable cave from the elements. Hasn't ripped despite serious tree thwacking and rock scrambling. Vents well, but definitely protects from precip. Worn anywhere from the stormiest days in the Tetons to sunny days at the resort and always felt comfortable. The colors are rad, and sizing feels true if you like a little room to move. I'm 5'8" and skinny and rock a medium with enough room for layers, but no extraneous material.

Bomber

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

This jacket has all the quality and attention to detail you'd expect at this price point. I've been out a dozen days so far, and it seems completely bombproof and really well designed. By cut, it's more lift-skiing oriented, but you can certainly tour and get after some technical fun in it, though the pockets don't agree with a harness.

One note: it's a baggy cut. I'm tall-ish and skinny (6' 2" 165) and the medium is plenty spacious, even with a big belay jacket underneath. My buddy says its steez. Whatever it is, I'm stoked.

Hello - what size should I get medium or large? I'm 5'10 175lb 33in wasit and 41 in chest

You are right there on the borderline with the Patagonia Primo Jacket. I am not sure if you have had the same experience, but I typically feel that Patagonia fits just a little bigger than most other brands.

You could get away with the large but I think you will be much happier with the fit of the medium given your build.

Thanks Mike - I did get a chance to try both M and L. The L was very baggy and loose. M seems to be a much better fit with room for a down sweater puffy. Just a tad tighter then my other Burton AK jackets in the same size.

*The Primo is Patagonia's burliest, most durable hard shell. Gore-tex 3 layer fabric, waterproof zippers, and a slightly more relaxed and longer fit than previous Primo Jacket's from Patagonia.
