i take care of my gear i clean, dry and treat my jackets, bibs, etc with T.L.C. I got this jacket 2 seasons ago thinking i would be good to go for at least 4 but after last spring the outer fabric was separating from the gore tex at all the pockets zippers and seams making these little pouches allover that snow finds its way into then melts from your body heat NOT COOL!. this is a good jacket its just not worth 600 bucks at all. i can think of 3 brands off the top of my head that you can get 2 jackets of the same quality and pay just a bit more than you would for this one. don't get this unless its 50% off.

What are the differences between the Primo and Triolet Jackets?

Responded on

Both jackets use a similar Gore shell, but the Primo is slightly looser fitting and has more ski/snowboard specific features like a powder skirt, bigger hood, and ipod pocket and cable routing.

Primo is not prime!

I ordered and then returned the Large. I'm 5'10 with 34 inch waist, 190 lbs and the shoulders fit great, however the waste and torso area were huge. Coat looked ridiculous on me.. Staying with the Arcteryx Rush jacket as the fit is perfect.

Spectacular Jacket

Almost everything about this jacket is awesome. Shell is tough as nails. Snow, rain, ice, sleet, and wind are going not coming through. No clammy steam box on the inside either. Just the right amount of pockets, not too many or too few. The only exception to this jacket is the sizing. I?m 6?2, 230lbs and I picked up the XL. I tried the L too, but it was too snug for any base layers and pulled a lot in my shoulders and upper back. The XL is awesome in the shoulders and upper back, but the torso is really big. Plenty of room now for layers, but it?s almost too much room. Still a winner for me and a keeper.

Great Jacket

This jacket is awesome. Hood fits well over helmet. It has great functional pockets inside and out. Totally water proof and wind proof. It looks good too. On sale at backcountry as well.

I'm 5' 10" and weigh about 175. I have fairly large chest and shoulder. In the past mediums have been too snug around the chest/shoulders. I have a large and it fits great. I live and play in Alaska so the extra room is nice for layering. I highly recommend this jacket. I am all about function but its nice to get at least one or two unsolicited compliments or inquiries a day in the lift line about the jacket.

You're definitely right in between small and medium. Personally I would go medium for a more freeride/loose fit, and small if you want it a little more snug, traditional fit. hope that helps?

Love this jacket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used this jacket several time in single digit weather with just a thin base and mid layer and stayed perfectly warm. This jacket is perfectly wind and waterproof and fits great. I am 5'10 175 and the medium was perfect. I would recommend this jacket to everyone.

is the Heritage blue Primo Jacket Men in size M available or sold out? It says discontinued in the pic text caption. Thanks. PiLa.

Heritage Green is in fact available in a medium. It's marked discontinued since it is on sale and is from the fall/winter line, and Patagonia is technically on to the Spring season.
Great jacket!

I am DYING to find this jacket in watercress large. I know it was made last year, but id do anything to get my hands on it. Are you guys getting any more watercress large's?

Responded on

could be tough to find one - sorry! Backcountry won't be getting any more in stock for sure.

Best Answer Responded on

Hey mwap,
Your going to thank me for this one! Go to and look through the mens ski jackets. Backcountry, (believe it or not), is selling a used, watercress green, large for $194.00. I guess I get Ty's comission on this one! Be careful however, there is no return for the stuff on that site but Backcountry is pretty fair however asks a stiff price for used clothing.

Wow man....i dont know how to thank you. You really made my day bud. I love this damn website. You guys always go above and beyond whatever is asked....thanks man

Hey weyams, i just jumped all over that jacket bro. Once again, thanks for looking out. First jacket ive seen in a long time that i wanted more than anything. It was either that, or buying the norrona trollvegen for 8 grand lol. The norrona is prob a better jacket, but 1) they didnt have my size, and 2) they didnt know when they would get more in. So thanks again...i just hope i didnt get hosed. But if its from backcountry its prob solid. Peace...

Green is Good

I really like this jacket. I am 6' and 155. I bought a medium, and it fits great: sleeves not too long, plenty of room in the neck area, and comes far enough down my back that I can bend over and pick up something with out catching a draft. I can wear a Synchilla Fleece under it and it fits fine or I can wear a lighter weight fleece/down jacket. If you do not layer it with something, there is quite a bit of room to fill. The jacket is pretty stiff out of the bag, but breaks in after a season or use. The stiffness, in this case, is a testament to the durability of the material. The jacket is purely a ski jacket, the powder skirt is not removable.

*strong material, can take a snag from a tree many times over
*beads water nicely
*roomy fit, but not baggy
*when I close the wrist guards, there is still a little Velcro to work with
*light weight and packs down pretty well when not in use

*difficult to cinch the waist drawstrings, you have to unzip the pockets to get to the string.
*quite a bit of room inside
*no two-way zipper for the main zipper

I am confused; the heritage green actually looks blue; which color better represents the primo heritage green.

Best Answer Responded on

yeah, Heritage Green is a weird color... the image above is correct for the jacket. Heritage Green is technically the darker color of the body of the jacket. (I definitely see it as more of a blue too!) Sweet color either way though.

Nice Jacket

  • Gender: Male

Haven't had a chance to use it in the elements yet, but seems like great shell. Quality construction and materials. Love the green color. I'm 5'8, 160 lbs and I got the medium. It's a tad bigger than I'd like, but I'm glad I went with medium because I tried on a small in store and it was too small in the neck and shoulders. Also a bit on the expensive side even with 20% off.

primo for sure!

I love the Primo Jacket - burly Gore Tex shell, killer fit,and nice clean styling. The fit might be a bit different than what people are used to from Patagonia in the past. A little looser for sure I'd say, and some people might want to size down. I'm 6' 170 pounds and love how the large fits. Good length in the body, and nice and roomy for layering, and not too tight anywhere. Not really too concerned if the arms are a little long since you can synch it down at the wrist. 2 thumbs up for sure!

hey ty....want to sell it? i will buy it off you. my email is, thanks

Odd sizing

Long sleeves and length. I wear a large in Arcteryx and Marmot, but this jacket was way too long in the sleeves and bunched up at the bottom when sitting. I returned the large jacket for a medium which turned out to be too tight in the chest and still long in the sleeves. Ended up paying 25$ in shipping and no jacket, expensive sizing mistake for me.
The quality looked great, but was never able to try it out.

Weird sizing

Was super stoked to get this jacket until I put it on... I'm 6"2" 215lbs with a long torso. I got a large. I wanted to ignore the fit, but finally decided to return it. The chest and armpit area felt okay, but the torso area was super baggy and when I bent over or sat down, there was a huge bunch in the chest area that stuck way out, like I was sporting a 2 foot vertical stiffy. The sleeves also felt a little long, which I could've dealt with. The bottom of the jacket fell a few inches below my waistline and the backside completely covered my butt. Guess I could've tried a M, but I bet the chest/armpits would've been too restrictive. The thing just felt too big... Quality and construction were par for Patagucci. Bummer.

Great shell, but...

Ok, I wanted a bomber shell for skiing and this seemed to fit the bill. Bought it on SAC for half price, but returned it for these reasons:

1. The armpit area dug in... I'm 5.8 with a normal length torso, but broad shoulders. I wear a M in everything. When I put the M on with a thin under layer and let my arms hang, the pits dug in. If I put my arms in front it got worse. Maybe it's designed for skinnier people.

2. The zippers were extremely difficult to operate and impossible to do with one hand.

3. The side pockets were too low and with my pack on I wasn't able to access them.

4. The powder skirt isn't removable.

5. The waist adjustments were difficult since they're sewn into the innerlayer of the jacket.

Too many negatives for me, but there were some really nice things as well:

1. It was tough and super light. Definitely nice for layering and keeping you dry without weight or bulk.

2. Hood was big enough for a helmet and when fully zipped, the neck area was big enough and comfortable.

3. Lots of pockets, both inside and out, for organizing gear. This includes being designed for use with an iPod.

Bomber Shell

Just used this jacket today for the first time. It's sick! The Gore-Tex keeps the wind, water, and snow out. I was up at Snowbird and it was a chilly day, but this jacket held up. I'm about 6'1" and 190 lbs and the medium fits me great and gave me enough room to wear my down puffy underneath. Patagonia does it again.
