Powderkeg Pant - Men's

The Patagonia Powderkeg pants are lightweight enough to whisk you through your hike. Get to the fun part of your tour faster. The Powderkeg's 2 way stretch lets you hike freely and drop a knee without worry. Stretchy inserts in the gaiters keep your pants from riding up. For hot days and ascents, the Powderkeg's thigh vents will keep you and the air moving. Waterproof/breathable H2No fabric keeps you dry, happy and ready for the next pitch.

Bottom Line: Powder is great, and kegs are good, so a Powderkeg must be incredible.

Short rise on Talls

By:
January 3, 2006

I bought these for my husband who is 6ft 5in. The length was great for a change but the rise was too short and they pulled whenever he sat down or bent his knees. I had to return them.

Nice Pants, but Not Great

By:
January 2, 2006

The pants appear to be top quality so far. Typical Patagonia bomber construction, waterproof, etc. I would add that the flaws are typical Patagonia oversights, though. While the thigh vents are definitely advantageous, it would be nice if there was some mesh or similar material when you zip open the vents instead of nothing (don't forget to close your vents before getting off the chair or you have a bunch of snow down your pants!). Also, there is no elastic or VELCRO tabs or anything to adjust for variations in waist sizes. If you are not exactly the advertised waist then you will need to wear a belt. These pants are advertised as backcountry specific pants. Who wears a belt in the backcountry? Patagonia sizing continues to frustrate me (there seems to be no consistency)! Finally, two cargo pockets seems superfluous to me (does anyone actually use those?). Maybe I just purchased pants designed for a different type of skier. Overall, I don't think these pants are any better than many others that are on the market.

These pants are wicked tough. No problems with restricted movement when trekking. Good construction, Patagonia quality, definitely worth the dollars.

These things work great. They are warm, waterproof, and as strong as steel. Definitely worth the $$$!
