The pint-sized (technically, it's 12-liter-sized) Patagonia Kids' Poco 12 Backpack hauls notebooks, crayons, and enough snacks for an afternoon playdate or a day hike with the fam. But, don't let the small stature of this pack fool you—it utilizes heavy-duty materials and Patagonia's practical design so you can count on long-lasting durability and usability.

  • Padded, mesh-lined shoulder straps are comfortable and breathable for easy carrying
  • Plenty of adjustment room in the straps means this pack can cinch down for a toddler or expand for early school-age kids
  • Tough high-denier nylon fabric is durable enough to handle bus rides and after-school adventures
  • Deluge DWR sheds moisture to keep school-day gear dry if it rains or snows a bit on the way to school
  • Roomy main compartment holds books, lunches, and a few contraband toys
  • Two mesh side pockets hold water bottles during field trips or short hikes
  • Secondary front pocket with organizer holds pencils, a phone, and a granola bar
  • LED attachment loop and reflective webbing makes your kid easier to see in low light
  • Hand-me-down ID tag helps this backpack helps keep your kid matched with the right backpack

My 3 year old loves this

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great, well made pack. My three year old loves this thing and can fit a lot in there. Overall a great design and nice colors.

Our daughter loves it

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We bought this for our daughter to take to nursery school. She loves it and it serves her needs well. She doesn't carry many file folders or notebooks at this age, but for a small teddy bear, a lunch box, and a change of small clothes, it does the trick. Plus she enjoys wearing it so I assume it is comfortable. It certainly is cute and it has the Patagonia quality you'd expect.

Nice pack, but...

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Purchased this pack for my 4 year old to use for preschool / pre-K. Nice pack, but I only gave it 2 stars because you cannot fit a standard size folder (or notebook like the description states) in it without bending it some. The length of the interior is fine, but the top of the pack is rounded just enough that the top edges of the folder will get bent when zipping the bag. It wouldn't be a big deal to just fold the folder in half for loading (which we did last year with a kids pack of roughly the same size); however, we expect that she will be carrying some larger preschool books back and forth this year, too.

A nice pack, but I returned it and bought the Poco Mucho 20L. It carries her folder and any books and/or show-and-tell items very comfortably.
