Great stand alone for the mild days and equally great for a mid layer under your shell when the temps drop.
Only downfall is the sleeves are short for me. XS fits me perfect everywhere but the sleeves are about an inch and a half too short.
5'7" 118lbs with a 34A bust.
Not my finest purchase...

Purchased this for the 2012-2013 winter season and I have a feeling its warranty will be tested pretty soon. For the cost of the product, it doesn't seem to offer much--not particularly warm, doesn't pack down particularly small and isn't particularly durable. After just a few short weeks of moderate use the threads holding the quilting pattern together began to break and come unsewn. The fit is OK, but like most Patagonia items I have no idea where I fall on the size spectrum--I am 5'1", 112 lbs usually an XS but had to get this in a S because the torso is so short. I guess it doesn't weigh much, so its my go-to for throwing on during transition periods, like de-skinning, but its not warm enough for stationary activities like belaying. I would recommend getting this on sale, not full price. Wish I had shopped around a bit more.
Warmth without bulk!!

This is jacket is awesome! The benefit of having a synthetic primaloft jacket is that it doesn't bulk as much as down so it's sometimes easier to layer with. It's highly wind resistant too so it's my go to layer when I'm hiking or backcountry skiing. I definitely get warmer in this jacket than I do my down sweater. I also travel a lot and it doubles as a pillow when you stuff it in its pocket! Great colors too.... :)

I purchased this and the Arteyx Atom LT to see which one I liked better. The Atom won hands down for warmth and durability; although it does not pack down as much as the Nano, warmth is my 1st priority.

I just got back from a ski trip in Utah. I was toasty warm in my nano puff, with just a shell over, and a midweight layer under over the course of 3 snowy cold days. Maybe I just play hard in my clothes, but I only rated it 4 stars because some of the threads are unraveling/coming loose in just under a couple months time.

What's the turquoise colour really like?
I've seen a lot of pictures of the turquoise nano puff version now, and they all look pretty different... I'd like to buy it if it really looks like on the backcountry-photo... But if it's as icky and gaudy as pictured on other sites, I'm not sure...

Corinne, I think the Turquoise Nano Puff Hoody above is actually a pretty honest representation of the actual color.
Love the jacket

Just got this jacket and have been using it over my smartwool hoodie base layer. Perfect for skiing even in cooler/snowy conditions.
So...light

This jacket is extremely light, but still very warm. Easy to layer under a shell. True to size. 5'8 and 130. The medium filts great.

Good layer but bad quality

Usually, I'm a huge Patagonia fan but this jacket has done nothing but annoy me!
This jacket is good as a layer (it's warm, it's easy to pack, great mobility, sizing is spot on, and it stays warm when wet). Unfortunately, the fabric is extremely delicate and the stitching comes apart easily. I got this jacket to replace my Patagonia micropuff (which had the same delicate fabric poor stitching problem). Despite my best efforts to be extremely gentle on this jacket it's still falling apart after only a few months.
Great concept, but falls short in durability

I echo everything said in James Cooper's review... this jacket is one of the most functional layering pieces I own, packing a surprisingly warm punch given its light weight and volume and even wind resistant. But it is just not built to stand up to serious wear. I don't wear it skiing or climbing - if I did, I'd throw a shell over it, because the outer fabric is susceptible to snagging. After just a few weeks of around-town wear, the stitching on my sleeve has come undone in one section and also on the upper back. There is also visible wear on the stiching elsewhere, including the front of the jacket. And this is just with easy, every day use! I am reluctant to send it back because I think they would just replace it with another jacket with the same problems. Hopefully the next generation Nano Puff will be built better, but until then, I would only buy this at a steep discount - it is simply not built to the quality expected from Patagonia at that price point.

I had the same problems with my jacket as well. After wearing it twice running errands I noticed the stitching coming undone in multiple places. This jacket isn't very durable as well. I noticed a hole in the arm of my jacket after two wears which seems unacceptable for the amount you pay.

If I didn't love it so much for everything else - its warmth, light weight, fit, windproofing - I would have returned it by now for sure. As is, not sure whether a warranty repair or replacement would really fix the problem. Hopefully Patagonia will go with slightly heavier-weight thread in the next version.

This thing is windproof and insulated, so it's not going to breath that well and will be a little warm for mild weather.
Functional, but apparently flimsy

I write this review with my girlfriend stating the following: "This jacket is very functional, very warm in cold temps, soft against the skin and has a great range of motion for multiple activities, including hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking, ice climbing, and wandering about town. During ice climbing, the jacket never soaked up water and stayed dry. The downsides to the jacket, the stitching is coming apart on multiple sites around the exterior of the arms, and the interior wrist cuffs show excessive wear and tear. The jacket has seen only four months of moderate use, and the stitching problem was noticed after only the first month. Perhaps this is just a defective coat, with others not experiencing the same issues." We plan on sending it back for a new one, anyone else experiencing similar issues, please comment or review.

Almost immediately after wearing it for the first time (just to work - not on a hike or backpacking trip) the stitching starting coming loose on the sleeve. Soon after, anytime my arm would brush against my side the loose thread would catch on my pocket zipper and pull out even more - causing the rest of the sleeve to bunch up. I'm going to send in for a new one but it appears that it's not just yours that's defective. Disappointing for Patagonia.

Same problem with stitching on my hoody. It has come unraveled along one sleeve and also on the upper back. I can't tell if the stitching problem, which is confined to the quilted areas, is really compromising its function, but it certainly looks bad!

stitching definitely a problem, wondering if I should send it back or not, seems like flimsy sticking which is a bummer because usually pata stuff is well made.
