Versatile, great fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 127 lbs
    Size Purchased: xs

Love the fit of this jacket- I wear it all the time. Recently spent 12 days on a glacier in the Alaska Range, and this was my go-to jacket for active days. Light enough to breath while moving, but perfect to keep me warm in the snow over a couple of good base layers.

Couldn't move

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5' 3"
    Weight: 128 lbs
    Size Purchased: Small

Seems like this would be a great jacket. Perfect length on body and arms. Did not run big in the body as others had implied. I couldn't get the jacket across my shoulders. It was so tight under the armpits. I feared I was going to rip it across the back like the Hulk. I'm sad because I thought I finally found the perfect coat. I don't think a medium will help because it will be huge all over then. I think that if you have an athletic frame you may have difficulty being comfortable in this product.

Almost perfect!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 9"
    Weight: 145 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

The Fit: I ordered both the small and the medium in this jacket. I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs, carrying much of my weight in my lower half. The small fit me perfectly - very flattering and fitted, but I wouldn't have been able to layer much underneath. I kept the medium as this is a lightweight jacket that works well in a layering system. I agree with other reviewers that the body fits a little loose while the bottom of the jacket is a bit tighter. The sleeves are long enough (yay!) for my longer arms but they do seem a bit wider than I had anticipated. Maybe Patagonia will some day come out with a slim fit version as others have suggested.

Warmth: This jacket has kept me pretty warm so far in northern CA, Lake Tahoe, Reno, and now in Colorado but I would say that on cold, cold days you will definitely need a good layering system in place or a heavier down jacket if you aren't interested in that. :) It has held up nicely even on windy days.

Overall, I would recommend this jacket to a friend! I ordered the black and I think it looks great with everything. Happy trails. :)

Living in this 24/7

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 130 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

I'm obsessed with this jacket! Literally never taking it off. I love the Andes Blue color - nice and bright but easily goes with pretty much everything. I bought this to wear to work - for some reason we like to crank the AC all year long here at Backcountry and I was tired of freezing to death at my desk. Also stoked to wear this on cool summer nights, and as an insulating layer on super cold days!

Other things I love about this jacket:
Synthetic insulation is awesome because it does retain heat even when wet
Zippered hand pockets and an internal zippered chest pocket
Fitted hood
Brick style baffles - kind of unique styling and really flattering
Packs down really well so it is great to travel with!

Like one other reviewer said - This does fit loose in the torso. I agree that it would be great to see Patagonia make a slim fitted jacket like this with a slightly longer length. In this case, the looser fit doesn't take away from the shape of the jacket for me - it is flattering and that little extra spaces just adds to the comfort!

An Oregon all-weather staple

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 10"
    Weight: 140 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

Great jacket for all conditions. Can be worn as an outer layer and not have to worry about it getting wet because of the synthetic insulation. Also a great mid layer to wear under a ski or rain jacket. I've worn it in 30-50 degree weather so far and has felt great.

Fit: I have a Medium...I'm 5'10" and weigh about 140lbs. The body length and arm length are great! Impressive really. Someone shorter might find it to be a bit long in those areas. My recommendation for Patagonia would be to offer this jacket, or one similar, in a slim cut option. This jacket is a regular cut and is a little loose in the torso area. On the flip side, it gives you enough room for a couple light layers underneath.

My only complaint would be that the wrist elastic cuffs are a bit loose (maybe I have skinny wrists?). They tend to slide down over my hands a bit. I tried on several at REI and for some reason this only seems to be a problem with the Black jacket. The other colors had tighter wrist cuffs. Weird.

Warm Texan in a blizzard

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 1"
    Weight: 128 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

I bought this jacket for a trip to Boston last month. It got me through 6 days of walking through a blizzard. Not too heavy, warm, and great fit. Plus the color is fun and highly visible!
I could've easily worn a small but I got the medium so I'd have room for layers.

Patagonia Rocks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket is great for when you don't need the extra warmth of down. It has a great slimming fit and the hood truly hugs your neck and head to keep wind out. Very warm alone and exceptional for layering. Throw it in your back pack even in warmer months, to throw on once you've summited a windy mountain top! Waiting for more colors to go on sale so I can add to my collection :-)

The perfect windbreaker

The perfect windbreaker

This was taken on a relatively warm day, but winds were INTENSE, making it a lot colder of a day on a fast moving boat. You can see how intense the wind was by looking at the hood (it doesn't normally sit that high). I was super warm and cozy with my nano puff on!

My go-to jacket - warm, comfy, light

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

This jacket is simply amazing and worth the investment. I've owned "puffy coats" for years, but was getting tired of the typical bulk, especially when trying to be active. I wanted something lightweight that I could easily move around in, and something that I could stuff into my backpack. This jacket is both of those things and more.

I've worn this to work (it's classy, esp. in black), cross-country skiing (warm but not too warm, esp. if you just unzip it), and snowshoeing. The temps have been down as low as -20 degrees, and I'm not shivering.

Perhaps my favorite part about the jacket is the hood, which increases the warmth ten-fold. My boyfriend says it makes me look like the "uni-bomber", but who cares?! When I wore this on a boat during a super windy day with the hood up, I felt immune to the wind.

I'm 5'2, 150 lbs., muscular and curvy. And as far as sizing goes, I think this jacket is a little small in some weird spots for me. The medium fit well everywhere, except the hips. The large is better in the hips, but obviously that means it's a bit bigger everywhere else. For me, that's fine, because I like to layer. Just something to consider for all you curvy women.

I'll be taking this Nano Puff along with me on my AT thru-hike this year!

What is the center back length of a medium?

Love this coat!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Bottom line: this is my go to jacket for almost everything. Wish I had bought one last season.

I had a couple of friends with nanopuff jackets and have wanted one for a while. I finally broke down and got one right before I left to go hike Mt Kilimanjaro. This jacket has been just as great as I hoped it would be. It is warm, extremely packable, and looks great on the trail and around town. I have worn it as an outer and a mid layer and it functions great as both. I was sure glad I got it for Kilimanjaro. I wore it every day.

In the two months I have had this, It has been hiking in several countries and all around my home state of Alaska. I can't wait to take it out skiing once the snow sets up.

As far as fit, it is true to size. I wear a medium in almost all outdoor gear. 5'6, 145#.

My only complaint is the stitching. I snagged some thread on one of the arms when I was unpacking it from its pocket. Now the thread is a little bunched and I have a loop on the arm. Some friends with the same coat have the same problem. I would imagine that with Patagonia's customer service, they would repair it if I called them. Really doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it.

The hood is also a nice feature :) Also, love the blue color.

Everybody needs this coat!

Hi Anna - I noticed we were about the same size. I usually wear a medium too. Just curious if this jacket fits you snug, or if you have room to layer?

Wow--Love it! Great Color too

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I almost always wear a size S in Patagonia, and this jacket fit perfectly--not too tight, not too big. The color (glass blue) is beautiful. I don't think it runs small. I'm 5' 2", 125 pounds, with muscular shoulders. Occasionally I wear an xs in Patagonia, but not often. This size S is perfect.

Best. Jacket. Ever.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I purchased this coat after wearing my partner's Nano Puff. His is too big, but it still kept me impressively warm. I'm perpetually cold, so I'm always on the lookout for anything warm and cozy. This jacket is definitely fits the bill. I've worn it around town and out in the woods for a backpacking trip. It handles all cool-to-cold weather situations well, and even when wet, still stays pretty warm. It instantly became my new, favorite jacket. Also, I'm just over 6', and the arms on the Large are actually long enough, something that rarely happens, and the coat fits perfectly. The only downside of this jacket is that it doesn't breathe very well, so I wouldn't recommend it for strenuous exercise.

Strange fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I love everything about this jacket that everyone else does.... But I am always a medium in All brands, including Patagonia... But this jacket is slightly too tight. At hem/hips and then does this strange puffy thing at the chest... I have found Marmot jackets to be too tight at hips as well, but too loose up top...I'm not huge in the hips... Wear size 29 jeans, size 6/8 dresses... This is unfortunate the style is like this in these brands...

Nano Puff Hoody review

What is the color of the hoody in this video? Is it from a past season? I love the Andes color, but might prefer this one if it's available elsewhere.

It's the best.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love the Nano Puff, the fit is finally right. They added a couple inches to the length and about an inch to the sleeves this year as well as making the silhouette less boxy. The one downside is breathability and for that I like the Arc'teryx Atom better, but for warmth while snowboarding/camping/around town, where I'm not worried about dumping heat, I love it.
It's surprisingly durable for it's weight, I've bouldered in southern Utah in this countless times as well and it hardly looks worn. The internal pocket doubles as a stuff sack which is great for backpacking and it packs up small. It's pretty wind resistant and resistant to a very light rain.

Nano is the new black

I can't say enough about how great this jacket is. With just 60 grams of insulation, I bought it strictly as extra warmth for skiing in cold temps but I wear it almost daily. It's perfect as a mid layer or outer layer depending on the temp. I've had it for 2 seasons now, stuffed it in my pack countless times and it's held up through everything. The nano puff is a must have.

Does it compress into an inside zipper...

Does it compress into an inside zipper pocket?

Responded on

Indeed it does! In the woman's jacket, the interior stow pocket should be on the upper left. When you stash it, there's even a handy little loop so you can hook it on to a carabiner were you so inclined. An awesome jacket for sure.
