    Great mid-weight

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

If you're familiar with Patagonia, you'll appreciate the fit. Hugs pretty tight, true to size. This one has just a bit more length in the sleeves than other Patagonia gear. Great warmth for anything above 40 degrees and it actually repels water pretty well for short periods of time. The hood works well for under helmet but be warned, you probably won't wear it walking down the street or in a more casual context. Great layering jacket so far and very versatile.

    Great Midweight Layer

I love my ladies version of the nano puff, so I decided to get my brother one for his birthday. He was absolutely thrilled, and has been wearing it nearly every day in the Montana fall and early winter. This jacket is great for cooler days, but not quite enough on the coldest days in the mountains. I like to wear mine under a shell on really cold days of skiing. I bought him the classic grey in size L, and he said it fit perfectly.

      Patagonia Fit Changes Yet Again

I love Patagonia gear, but this year's sizing seems to have changed yet again. I ordered the nano-puff hoody based on an old regular nano puff jacket that I bought years ago which is a medium. That jacket fits me perfectly. Enough room in the shoulders for good range of motion, but tapered slightly in the waist so it has a nice tailored fit. I like a more tailored fit for my layering pieces. However the updated fit for this hoody seems to be much tighter in the shoulder and armpit region than my trusty old jacket. Fit great in the mid section but I had to return it for a large. The large is a good fit in the shoulders but more billowy for my liking in the midsection. It's fine, I just don't know why they decided to change the fit of these jackets.

For overall performance this jacket gets 5 stars for me. I use this jacket primarily as a layering piece under a wading jacket when I go fishing or as a stand alone when I'm camping or bumming around town. For such a lightweight jacket it's incredibly warm and the primaloft gold really does continue insulating even when wet. Don't ask how I know this. The hood on this jacket is also awesome. It fits snug to my head so it doesn't blow off while I'm running the boat and it easily fits under the hood of my wading jacket without me even noticing. Unfortunately, the shell material is susceptible to tears and burns, but I knew with my old jacket that's what I was getting. Tenacious tape does a great job of repairing the shell and limiting fill loss when you get a tear.

        Patagonia nano puff mens jacket

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium

Warmer than I expect. Wore The yellow/gold one deer hunting; more visible to the human eye than blaze orange in my opinion. The hood is great when cold wind comes up..used as layered piece and as a cover garment. Very versatile. Size correctly. Only improvement would be a two-way zipper.

        Nice, all around jacket

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Large

This jacket fits me well length wise in all directions. The cuffs stay located at my wrists even with large amounts of movement. I enjoy that the hood is contoured close to your head (I like to keep the wind out). I think that someone my height up to the 190 lb range could wear a Large still.

Hiking: Denver, CO in the upper 40's plus wind chills of 20 mph and 30 mph gusts around the peak. Other than around the peak, I found myself regulating heat by unzipping 1/3. This was used with a light climbing jacket to help break the wind.

Motorcycle: 2,000 miles to Denver and back. Many with this jacket on. Worst conditions were low 40's with severe thunderstorms and wind chill from driving 75 mph. This as a base layer again, my light climbing jacket, and a rain jacket. Hands and feet were frozen but my torso was toasty.

I've enjoyed having this jacket and it saved my bacon! All while being able to pack it into its on chest pocket! Made it easy to justify taking it anywhere! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I bought it on sale and am not quite convinced that I would have bought it at full price... Happy trails!

        Best mid layer ever

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: X-large

Works well for activewear, wet, sweaty, windy and even dry:) Second one I've owned and worn, backpacking, bikepacking, hiking, nordic skiing, snoeshoeing, bicycle commuting and every cool/cold day. First one I owned is five years old and patched up from years of extreme use, and going strong. Best designed midlayer ever. Great as outerwear or fashoinistawear too!

        Lightweight hoody for warmer temps!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: XL

The XL is true to size but there's barely enough room to wear a midweight fleece underneath. I'm 6' of average build with broad shoulders and XL fits relatively well.
Bought this on sale in Underwater Blue [teal] and it looks nice.
Autumn temps have begun to fall into the low 50s and this jacket will NOT keep you warm. You MUST wear a midweight/heavyweight fleece underneath and have to keep moving. Warmer clothes underneath and a shell on top is a Must if you want to keep warm!
It's lightweight and it just blocks out light breezes.
You MUST wear something underneath or above it for better warmth.

The hood fits well without any drawcords but really needs a cinchcord to pull the hoodtop back and it needs a built-in hood visor. The sleeves really need some thumbholes at the end which some other jackets have which pulls the sleeves over the wrist further for more warmth protection. The elastic wrist cuffs just barely forms
a nice fit to keep out the wind.

The inside hand pockets are NOT lined, just with the fabric but should block out the wind but won't provide any addition warmth so gloves are needed for colder temps.
The price of this hoody is similar to a lightweight down jacket (Expensive!) with the difference that down doesn't stay warm when it gets wet.

        Update:
This jacket is definitely NOT meant for Cold, windy wintery weather when temps drop into the 40s to 30s. Best to use the jacket as a midlayer for insulation and still wear appropriate winter weather clothing underneath it like a long sleeved shirt and light-/mid-weight fleece/wool under this jacket.
Maybe if you're active outdoors will this jacket keep one warm but not if you're NOT active outdoors. It should NOT be worn as a top layer for True winter wear.
Wear a down or other insulated jacket/coat instead to keep warm but can use this jacket as an insulating layer in place of a fleece/wool jacket/sweater.

        Beauty

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: XL

I see some negative reviews. Take off, eh. I bought one a while ago, XL, true to size, used it to travel to China in the winter. It is excellent for that purpose, moderately waterproof and warm, stuffs into the pocket to give a package that would fit in one of those ziplock bags you use to go through security at the airport. I always take it with me regardless of what else I pack. Got one for my son, we took them to the Sierras, warm enough even at 11,000 feet in summer, folds up for use as a pillow. I've also worn it under a shell skiing. If you're an arctic explorer, this isn't it, but for us regular folk as a versatile travel jacket and for backpacking and skiing, layering etc. this is an excellent item at an excellent price.

        Where's the puff?

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I've had many previous Patagonia puffys - very happy with them all. This was to be my first nono-puff. It felt like three layers of nylon and some fancy quilting with no insulation. Stylish, sure ... but where's the puff?
Patagonia: please remove the inner lining (to save weight) and double (or more) the insulation.

        Disappointed

I am disappointed in this jacket. I have both the nano puff pullover and the nano puff jacket (w/o hood) and both fit perfectly. I ordered this one in the same size (S) and it is a tight fit. I won't order a size up because I'm afraid the sleeves will be way too long. Sending it back.

The one to rule them all

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Medium

I picked up this jacket for my last trip to Ireland and Scotland and was so happy that I did! I needed an insulation piece that would fit into my 32L pack for a few weeks that could pack small but be warm and this did both. It was great for early morning walk, cold flights and late night walks to the pub. This and a Tee shirt and I was set no matter the conditions. Zip it open for warmer walks or all the way up and you have a neck gaiter for the pretty chilly nights and rains. The hood was also a lot larger than I thought, allowing me to put it over my hat (7-5/8 or XL hat) when the cold or rains came. All in all this is an amazing product!

          All Day, Every Day!

          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Medium

This jacket goes with me everywhere! I have owned multiple versions of this jacket and must say the hooded full zip is my favorite to date. I am 6ft 180lbs and wear the medium size. I have used this coat as a mid-layer but most often as my shell with a base layer under. This set up keeps me comfortable hiking and snowshoeing down to around 10 degrees Fahrenheit . I also use it all spring and fall with just a tee shirt.

          I highly recommend this jacket!

          All Day, Every Day!

          Great for the river.

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: medium

I have 5 Patagonia tops. 3 (2 pullovers and a zip up) of which are from the nano puff series (and even the pants for under my waders)--just to say I really depend on the quality when spending hours on the river. I have the down sweater, but prefer the nano puff for layering (mid layer) and its ability to insulate when wet (forget down doing that). The hood is a nice added benefit to the line as you're not always gonna have a beanie and a beanie doesn't cover up your mouth and nose. With this purchase, being the second or third generation of the nano puff series, I noticed the sizing has changed. A current MEDIUM used to be their SMALL, so order up if you are upgrading. I hope the elastic in the cuffs lasts as long as the first nano puff I have. They tend to get loose (rolling up sleeves under wading jacket) but they don't completely lose their elasticity.

I'd say it runs true to size, but I don't have the off the shelf kind of build. I have broad shoulders, chest and shorter arms for my height. I used to order the SMALL (I don't believe there was an XSMALL in the first generation), but now I order the MEDIUM. I put this jacket right up against the older SMALL and they are nearly exact in dimensions.

          Great for the river.

          Patti green large

Most comfy jacket ever! It's so extremely lightweight and breaths well while keeping me surprisingly warm. You will probably need a shell or a thicker coat if in below freezing conditions. I had the red one which looked a bit pink and traded for green. I'm extremely stoked on this buy.

            Great Jacket!!!

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times
            • Fit: True to size
            • Size Bought: Medium

I ordered a Medium and I am 5 foot 8 inches tall and 150 lbs and it fits great. This jacket is magic, it is so light but keeps my so warm. I do not know how it does it. I live in Chicago so it can get very cold here, but when I wore this as a mid layer under my winter jacket I actually got too hot. However, it was not that cold that day, only like 10 degrees F. It will be good to have for when it gets even colder, which it does in Chicago. Love this jacket.
