Cant go wrong with Patagonia.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The Ultralight Down Jacket is a great addition to anyones outdoor wear. Compared with other down jackets out there including ones by Patagonia this is easily one of the most packable. It comes with a great little stuff sack that makes it really easy to get it out of the way if you dont need it. The jacket seems to be a bit less boxy than some of the other jackets Patagonia make. My nanopuff is quite square shaped and I found this to fit a bit better for my slim shape. Im 6ft and pretty skinny and the medium fits great. Its a pretty simple jacket with one main zip down the front, two hip pockets and a chest pocket all of which have pretty light weight zippers so I probably wouldnt be too rough with this jacket but Im sure it would be able to cope with a bit of abuse. If you're my height but a bit wider than me Id probably say the large would be a better option.

Performance wise I cant say anything bad about it. I was wearing it today in 20-40kt winds, didnt feel a thing and was toasty on the inside so a big props to Patagonia for this jacket, I love it.

Hi I am 5'6" and normally wear large would this large be too long?

Nick,
If you normally wear large in Patagonia clothing then this should fit you well in a large also. If you normally wear large in other jackets but have not bought much Patagonia before I would recommend going to a medium, because while this jacket is listed as "slim" Patagonia jackets tends to run larger than other jackets in general.

do you have or will you get any more of these in Mens M?

It doesn't look like we have ordered any more mens mediums yet. However, I would be surprised if we don't order more sometime in the near future. In the meantime, have you looked at some of the other ultralight down styles?

340 days a year in San Francisco

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have this jacket with me 340 days a year in San Francisco. Ultralight, windproof, water resistant, and very warm. Most days of the year it gets cold and windy at some point in SF, and this jacket is perfect for that. Turns out it's also a great layer for backcountry skiing, particularly when you summit and want to stay warm while you tear off your skins and get ready to descend. Also great under a shell for resort skiing.

Oh, it is a slim fit, which is great since I'm tall and thin.
