Go to battle in the big mountains.

Designed for the athlete who goes big, whether it's climbing remote peaks, traversing across desolate landscapes, or shredding on huge mountains, the Patagonia Super Alpine Bib can go to battle. The 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric is guaranteed waterproof and breathable. The face fabric is 40D nylon with 150D nylon placed in high-abrasion areas. This means it's durable to withstand light contact with a crampon or ski edge and features an additional DWR treatment so moisture beads up and rolls off.

Form meets function with the Super Alpine Bib. Full-coverage bibs with hook-and-loop adjustable suspenders and drop-seat configuration provide full coverage, and the articulated seat and knees move easily with you through mountainous terrain. Slim Zips, so it won't rub you the wrong way or slow you down when you need to grab gear quickly. The chest pockets are bellowed so that they fold flat against your chest. Patagonia has thought about the hassle of boots with this bib, too. The lower leg is ski-boot compatible and has external scuff guards and adjustable internal gaiters, and the watertight full size zips keep weather out when you need it and can offer ventilation and ease with taking boots on and off. Now, you just have to get to the mountain.

Here's what others have to say...

I am 6'3 / 198 lbs / shorter legs and I need for Backcountry skiing. What size do I need. XL or L. I am often in between. Cheers, CJ

You're definitely in between sizes, I would try the large first to see if that works and gives you a little better fit with a shorter inseam.

This pant or Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib? I have heard a lot about the top quality of Arc'teryx, but never owned an item from them. I am looking for a durable Gore-Tex full zip hardshell for ski touring, mountaineering, and cold rainy day hikes.

Responded on

I'm partial, but I think it would be worth giving the Super Alpine a shot. Fully redesigned this year, and a killer set of hard shell bibs. Patagonia worked closely with it's climbing and skiing ambassadors to update the old model and make the best Gore bib yet from Patagonia.
