Too short

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

The bibs are too short. Unless you are a short person, I don't suggest these. They do have a good cut, though. They also rip easier than I imagined. And they are not fully waterproof. Yes, snow proof, but no to waterproof.

Will these go over snowboarding boots?

Will these go over snowboarding boots?

Responded on

Yes, they will fit over most snowboarding boots.

They will, just.. I have Driver X's and they're fine. With previous snowboard pants, I used to wear my cuffs over the top of my highbacks to reduce friction wear 'n' tear between the highback and boot, with these they're not loose enough to do that. This is no problem, just something to be aware of. The plus side of this is that you'll NEVER get a single flake of snow in your boot!

Almost perfect.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used these Ice climbing 5 times already and they are awesome. I am 5'9" 180lbs and bought a size medium. The baffled chest area works great! By far the best feature on here. All other bibs i have owned always gave a lot of resistance when leaning forwards. The baffles allow for stretch and increased volume so you do not get the bunched up restriction feeling. the quality is great and I like the adjustable gaiters. The articulated knees make for a great fit. My only complaint is that they are about 1-2 inches short. The sizing chart says they are a 31-33 inseam for size medium. They are a 30 inseam at best. I typically wear a 32 inseam. A could get away with a size large but I have skinny legs so I went with a medium. In the pic you can see my bottom right cuff is really high.

Almost perfect.

Dopest Dope I've Ever Doped

These pants rock. Rain, snow, hot hot sun, they rock it and make my legs feel good. I am pretty sure I am never going to have to buy another pair of (ski) pants.

Great bibs for ski / splitboard touring

Light but tough

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these to use for split-board touring and so far, I am really happy with them.

The chest pockets are "bellowed" so that they fold flat, but it's possible to absolutely stuff them if necessary. I use the thigh pockets for spare inner gloves.

The fit is quite slim and they only just fit over my snowboard boots. The inner leg cuff has a tightening strap over your boot and there's also tightening cord on the outer leg cuff .
The side zips unzip from the top and the bottom and are great for dumping heat when the sun comes out on a long skin up your favourite backcountry peak. There's press studs at the top to stop the butt piece folding down in this case. It would've been nice if you could "unclip" the zips when they're open to be able to put these on/off with your boots on. The zip arrangement makes backcountry "two-sies" relatively easy. The chest zip also unzips from the top and bottom, although I had to put a small piece of cord on the bottom one to be able to unzip it with gloves on.

I'm pretty rough on my gear, so I steer towards goretex pro-shell for my outerwear. So far, I 've used these about 20 times and the fabric is not wearing at all. This includes, a couple of times, wearing a harness with 4 or 5 'biners and a belay device rubbing against the hip. While we're talking about harnesses, they're snug enough so that they don't kink and bunch up with the harness on.

My other pants are burton AK staggers which have a light lining and in comparison are heavier. As I start to do more backcountry/touring I like the lighter weight of these bibs. although they are a little cooler, so think about insulation if it's cold.

Of course being Patagonia they're pricey, I got mine on sale. Interested to see how they hold up over time, although I guess they have a lifetime warranty.

Not just for Climbing!

These are some lightweight but tough shells! Patagonia makes multifunctional clothing, and this item is no different. These are awesome pants to ski hard even in the resort. When Im making top to bottom tram laps at Snowbird, these bibs allow me to stay warm and dry but not overheat!

best bibs i've ever had

... but then theyre the first ones that ive paid over $150 for. I'm a little heavier set than the previous reviewer at 5'10" and 170 lbs, and i love the fit of the medium. Heavy weight long underwear plus a pair of pants fits just fine under them for me. If its cold enough to warrant more than that i suspect ill be wearing something puffy, not these bibs.

Super Alpine

These bibs feel a tad thin, but it's just the weight savings of the 3L Gore-tex Proshell fabric. It's still bomber! I normally wear a Medium in all Patagonia pants (6'1" and 165 lb. frame). These in a Medium are long enough to cover my boots, but with only a t-shirt on, they were so tight through the stomach/waist area. I'd have to go with a Large just to have room to layer a few items. Runs small. Size up.
