Great shorts

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Bought these as a birthday gift for a friend. He loved them. Fits true to size, and colors as depicted on the site. They hit just above the knee.

Change is not always good

  • Height: 6' 1"
    Weight: 195 lbs
    Size Purchased: 34 waist

I own several pairs of Patagonia Board Shorts, both the 19" and 21", buying them several years ago. I just went into the market for another pair and found that they have changed, even though Patagonia suggests that they are the same old style. Many of you will like the change I expect, because they simply trimmed them down. I understand the desire to keep up with the trend that "Mad Men" started, the skinny look, but that look doesn't suit everyone. I assumed that Patagonia's alternative versions of the board shorts, with elastic and which are expressly stated to be trimmer meant that the originals were just that....original, but I was wrong. I kept them in the end because they were still passable, but I am worried about their functionality. For the record, I am 6'1", 195 lbs, 34" waist, and my thighs and butt are big. So, if you are a more typical physique you probably will like the change.
