I'm picky when it comes to socks. Really picky. I had been almost exclusively wearing SmartWool until I found these. I dabbled with DarnTough and some others too. I like socks that don't go too far beyond my ankle in height, are made of a substantial blend of Merino wool, and fit well. These fit my criteria with the added bonus of becoming 'felted' after a few wash/wear cycles. It's only been a year since I switched, but the 4 pair that I have show no signs of breakdown so far, despite being worn 2 times a week or so.
I can't say enough good things about these socks.

This sock has nice padding on the bottom and heel, ideal for hiking/trekking. A little too warm for summer days, but great for summer nights and fall/spring hikes.
