Description

Take a puff of this lightweight insulating pant.

An open bivy on an exposed ledge just got a little more bearable thanks to the light, compressible, weather shedding Patagonia Men’s Micro Puff Pant. This puffy pant adds big-time warmth to your lower half on pre-dawn starts and miserable mid-mountain camps thanks to its DWR-coated, recycled polyester shell and PrimaLoft Eco synthetic insulation. Full side zips make for easy in and out, and reinforcements in the seat and knees stop sharp rocks and ice from ruining your puffy party.

what kind of tempurateratures can there pans withstand?

Responded on

pretty cold! this is about as warm as a pair of pants gets. With no base layer underneath I'd say 32 F comfortably? And if you're moving at all or have a layer or 2 underneath you could go much colder. hope that helps

I wore these pants on a 9 day winter hiking trip. With under armor leggings underneath and rain pants on top I was almost too hot in 10F.

All,

How do you use these in your layering system? Underneath a shell pant or as an over-everything layer? I'm thinking the latter makes more sense.

Responded on

Use as a mid or over layer. They are water resistant and the fabric will hold up to some abuse, but not a lot. These work great under a waterproof shell to provide a lot of warmth.

Lifesaver!

Just returned from a 2-week back country trip in Katmai NP in Alaska. These worked great under our drysuit while paddling and while chilling (literally) around camp. We used the Marmot Precip rain pant over them for rain pro and were dry and warm. Def a layer to have in AK!

These things rock! Skiing in N. Idaho in -20 wind chill and couldn't feel a thing. Love them.

Can you tell me the length of the OUTseam (total length) on a size L Micro Puff pant?

No reason to leave it at home

I'm 6'3", 180lbs and I ordered the large. They fit nicely over my R1 pants and hiking pants. I love the pants. I did a winter overnighter in northern Japan and loved having these on when the sun went down. They're lightweight, pack down to the size of a nalgene big mouth, and are super cozy. If you're not sure whether you'll need it, bring it anyway. Along with a good top layer, you could forego the sleeping bag should you need to bivy.
