- Q & A
Hello comfort town.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I've long pined for one of those relaxed-fit, super comfortable and soft cord shirts from LLBean - but the fit on those (for me) is way, way boxy and a shade schleppy. So, I was very excited when Patagonia came out with the micro cord shirt! I picked up the Mogul Blue color, which is less aqua blue and more ... dirty teal, if you would (The color way reminds me a lot of the old NPS trucks, just less green). The brass buttons offer a vintage-inspired look, and the micro cord is truly micro. The fabric is a little stiff at first, but once you wash the shirt (cold, hang dry) it's so comfortable and durable feeling.
I own a few different button-up shirts by Patagonia in a size 2, but can wear a size 0 in the button shirts. A size 0 offers a more sleek, fitted look. However, I prefer to have the option to layer underneath my flannels if need be. So, with this in mind I purchased a size 2. And it fits great! It's got that slightly-relaxed-fit in the body that I like so much (without it looking schleppy) and the sleeves aren't overwhelmingly tight or short - they're pretty much near perfect.
In comparison to the Fjord Flannel, which while the Patagonia website may say that both shirts have a "regular fit," I would say that the Fjord has a much more relaxed fit than the Micro cord does. From my experience, the Micro Cord is a more true-fitting "regular fit," thanks to its classic shirt tail hem and drop tail hem. If I were to compare the cut of the Micro Cord to other companies, I would say it's comparable to J.Crew's classic button-up shirts, or even Target's (Merona) button-up shirts.
All in all, I love, love, love this shirt. It's super cute, super versatile and I'm way, way stoked on it.
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: 4
I have a Fjord patagonia flannel in a four and love how it fits. Bought this shirt in a 4 as well and when I received it the sleeves were so tight I couldn't get my watch through the hand hole. The sleeves were past my wrists and short and the length was high on my waist. The size was weird and didn't run true to other patagonia clothing sizes.
