When you're dashing from shady tree coverage to bright, hot sun on a hiking trail, The Patagonia Men's Merino 1 Silkweight Crew is there to keep you comfortable. Merino wool regulates your body temperature so you can stay cool while you run under the sun and warm when you hit the shade, and the polyester in the fabric blend keeps you dry when you start working up a sweat.

  • Blending merino wool with polyester results in a breathable shirt that naturally controls odor, is durable, and wicks moisture
  • Chlorine-free merino is eco-friendly
  • Slim fit allows easy layering if you want a windbreaker when you top out on multipitch routes
  • Side seams prevent bulking and uncomfortable rubbing and chafing
  • Set-in sleeves give you a natural freedom of movement

I usually have cap1 sw as my base layer, I am very happy with them. But this merino 1 is even better, I will get more of these when on sale

Great Base Layer

The base I've used the past couple of ski seasons was wearing out so I picked up this layer in black at the end of the winter. I've never owned a Merino layer before but decided to splurge for one this time and it's been great so far. It's light and comfortable. The fabric's correspondingly pretty thin. I'm curious to see how it'll hold up over time but no red flags yet. I'll primarily use it for skiing but it'll probably get some play camping and during spring/fall mountain biking.

Superlight weight

Great shirt, nice a light. Feels great against skin, really soft. I have worn it a couple times snowshoeing, winter hiking, snowboarding and during some military training as a baselayer. Wicks moisture well and even after sweating a bit still keeps me warm. The color is great as well, blends in with other green gear and allows me to get away with wearing it at work. It would be nice to see more companys cater some colour options towards military members.

Great light weight top

Bought this top as a base layer for colder weather hiking/backpacking. It does a good job of wicking away moisture and it dries quickly. I have used it 8-10 times so far and am happy with the selection.

The Patagonia crew has been a great addition as a next to skin base layer for colder hiking in the mountains.
