So far so good

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I've used this item a few times since ordering it and haven't had any issues. It's the perfect combo of a long sleeve shirt that is breathable and light enough not to heat you up when you start to sweat. And, it's also just warm enough for when you're cooling down and resting.

Poor quality

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I had recently switched over to trying this as I like the fit of so much other shirts from Patagonia. Don't waste your money, I bought 3 of them and feel like I was robbed. The fabric pills awful, I have had them for about a month and have worn each one about 4 times as a baselayer. The armpits pill terribly, I pulled on the sleeve cuff to get it down my arm through a shirt and the fabric ripped. Don't waste your money on this product. Too Bad, I love patagonia otherwise. Spend the money buy Ibex or even Smartwool (although they are not that great of a company when it comes to warranty)

Disappointing

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large

My old go to baselayer was getting a little worn so I decided to splurge and go for merino (everyone says it's the best). In all, I was quite disappointed by the performance of this as it holds significantly more moisture than even the cheapest synthetic and makes you too warm when you're working hard but cold afterwards due to the sweat it absorbs. All in all, it performs the opposite of how you want your baselayer to perform.

In addition, it is so thin that it shows significant wear after six months of use including small holes.

The one advantage is that it really does a great job of keeping the skunk away, I used it off and on for a month of hiking on the AT without washing and it still didn't smell - it definitely scores five stars in that category.

This might be a satisfactory layer for simple traveling but it really isn't up to snuff for real outdoor use. This is the only piece of patagonia clothing that I have been dissatisfied with.

Great Base Layer

The base I've used the past couple of ski seasons was wearing out so I picked up this layer in black at the end of the winter. I've never owned a Merino layer before but decided to splurge for one this time and it's been great so far. It's light and comfortable. The fabric's correspondingly pretty thin. I'm curious to see how it'll hold up over time but no red flags yet. I'll primarily use it for skiing but it'll probably get some play camping and during spring/fall mountain biking.

    Superlight weight

Great shirt, nice a light. Feels great against skin, really soft. I have worn it a couple times snowshoeing, winter hiking, snowboarding and during some military training as a baselayer. Wicks moisture well and even after sweating a bit still keeps me warm. The color is great as well, blends in with other green gear and allows me to get away with wearing it at work. It would be nice to see more companys cater some colour options towards military members.

    Great light weight top

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Bought this top as a base layer for colder weather hiking/backpacking. It does a good job of wicking away moisture and it dries quickly. I have used it 8-10 times so far and am happy with the selection.
