Just a little too low cut

I like the dress a lot. It was true to size for me (XL) and I felt that it flattered me but was a little too low cut and I planned on wearing in really hot weather and hoping not to wear much if anything on underneath. darn.
Strange fit and sizing....

I am 5'2", 118 and a 34 D. I wear size small in almost everything Patagonia makes. I would need at least a large in this dress for it to properly fit over my waist and hips, which are not large! Also, the coverage and deep v on top really would only work for an A or B with very broad, athletic shoulders. The straps fall off of a more petite frame. The fabric is nice, but after owning a 3/4 sleeve Margot dress from a couple years ago, this is much thinner, not in a bias cut flowy way, just thinner material, so even in black, you might want a slip. Totally bummed, the dress looked like a winner, but you never can tell:)
Excellent Dress!

I bought this dress (in the brown print) to go on a vacation to Jamaica. It is very easy to throw on, easy to wear, dresses up and down, and is very flattering. The Jamaican ladies at the resort were all over it. And then my 27-year-old daughter decided the dress was so hot, she borrowed it for one of our evenings out at the resort, as well. So, 53-year-old mom and 27-year-old daughter wore it, and it worked equally well for both of us. We both needed to use "Hollywood" sticky tape to keep from exposing too much up top, but otherwise it was just a perfect warm-weather dress.
Great dress!

I have this in L and it's a great fit! I use bra tape to secure the dress to my bra so I don't end up in an awkward position.
Awesome Dress That Also Affords Bra Coverage

Love it!
Despite my worrying a bit about chest coverage issues, this dress is fantastic... and I didn't even need to worry about wardrobe malfunction scenarios. Not sure if this is because I'm pretty small-busted or what, but the dress's bodice section stays in place, and duly covers up bra straps. And boy is it cute!

I love any piece of clothing that can do double-duty in and out of the office. This is definitely one of them. It was perfectly comfortable while blueberry picking, but just as comfy at work. The cut is a bit deep for my liking, so I wear a cami under it at the office. Also, I bought this based on my hip size (39"), which put me in a medium. That meant the top was a little loose, so a trip to the tailor shortened the straps and sewed the front pieces together to prevent any peep shows when I bent over. Other than that, I'm totally happy with this dress.

I am a patagonia small on the top (bust and waist) but my hips are 39.5"...do I go up to a medium? Generally, in Patagonia hiking pants I wear an 8 (I like them roomy).

That's the same issue I have. I got the medium and just had the straps on the top shortened. I'm also a 34D, so maybe that helps fill the top a bit :-P
almost perfect

I absolutely love Patagonia gear, and I wear it just about every single day. I don't wear a lot of dresses, but when I do, it is definitely a Patagonia dress. I have a couple of the Margot dresses, for they are perfect for spring and summer. For work, I typically put a little cardigan or sweater over it, which dresses it up a little and makes it work-appropriate. However, when I leave work, I wear it as is, without the sweater or cardigan, and it is perfect for a night on the town or in the heat of the summer. The only minor issue I have is that the straps are a little long for me, which makes the cut a little low. Besides that, this dress is the perfect addition to the wardrobe.

Its a nice dress but the top fits a little loose. I would recommend ordering a size smaller than you take if your breast size is 36C or less. The material is knit and looks like it after the first wash.
Great everyday dress

This dress has wonderful versatility. You can throw it on for a day of running errands, transporting kids, etc. It works just as well for a barbecue or evening boat ride. The fabric holds its shape well (doesn't stretch out) and the cut is forgiving for "not so perfect" bods. To be specific, you can wear a bra and it falls loosely from the waist. This cut works great if you are a little "hippy" like me!

Great dress to throw on and look good in, when you don't have the time to look good.

Extra cute dress for the summer that is flattering and fun. Easy to wash and easy to pack. Great for travel. I'm 5'8, athletic build, typically a Medium, and the Medium fits great in this dress. I have the Anise: Rosehip, and the color is not as bright as featured above..it's softer.

I totally agree. It is such a cute dress, but busty!! Maybe if you are smaller on top it wont be such an issue.
And I find that the bra strap near the clasp shows in the back usually.

I bought a Margot dress last year and loved it so much I wanted another one. The one I bought this year is sized for an Amazon. I'm 5' tall and thin and I bought an XS ... last year it fit perfectly. I had to have the skirt on the new one shortened 3 inches and the straps taken up a lot, plus the sides taken in at the arms for gapping in the one I got this year. I definitely haven't shrunk, and I'm sad that they've altered their sizing so much! They're splendid dresses, but I had to pay as much to have it altered as I did to buy it :(

I couldn't agree more... I'm 5'2" and I bought the XS. I liked the length (just above knee) but the straps were way too long and I had to take the dress in at the arms quite a bit as well. So unless you are a body builder or swimmer with nice muscular arms and shoulders, be prepared to do some sewing. The alterations were easy to do and I now LOVE my dress and it works for all sorts of occasions.
Great dress!

I love my new Margot sundress! It dresses up or down and has a very flattering fit. I wear a 6 and got the small which fits like a dream. It hugs the torso but floats over the hips which is great for pear and hourglass figures. It probably wouldn't flatter an apple silhouette as well. I'm usually not a fan of orange, but this dress is a great shade and looks awesome! I'm planning to buy it in black as well if I can find a small somewhere...
