When you need a rest day from your heinous climbing project, grab a cold one and kick back and relax in the Patagonia Men's Lined Canvas Hoody. This organic cotton canvas jacket features a recycled fleece lining to keep you warm in the mountains and two interior security pockets for your cash or MP3 player. When you head back to town, wear the Canvas Hoody to work on a chilly fall day.
Bottom Line: Classic work-wear style and fleecy comfort for everyday use.
This is my new favorite jacket. Nice basic styling and super comfortable. I've had it for about three weeks and it's breaking in nicely and is one of the best non technical jackets I've ever owned. Fleece lined pockets are a nice bonus, and the overall fit is spot on. No worries about this thing wearing out for a very long time. Definitely a piece I'll look forward to wearing each fall as the weather starts to cool off.
This hoodie looks great, but the price is kind of steep. Can any current owners claim that it is worth all $175, or is the same quality available somewhere else for less?
I don't know that there's much out there that's comparable to this jacket, and I definitely think you'll get your moneys worth. Carhatt's got the only similar jacket that comes to mind, and the Lined Canvas Hoody is much much nicer, and more comfortable. If you get it and don't think it's worth your $175 Backcountry will take care of you with a refund.
bought this jacket when i started to miss my old carhartt look alike, and am very impressed so far. not stated in the description are the lined sleeves, which are super warm and not just canvas like the carhartt. what can i say, it's a work coat with some very nice additions.

I think I like the Henna Brown color, but I thought it was supposed to be really dark like in the detailed views of the pocket and logo. It appears to be a lighter color in other pictures. I guess what I'm really asking is what color is the darkest, it looks like you offer 4 colors, but in the drop down menu there's only 3 to choose from.
Unfortunately the detail shot that shows the darker color was rolled in from Fall 8 product, and is actually the espresso color. Henna Brown is the darkest color available this season.
Beefy coat (hefty feel) with sturdy canvas shell. Very wind-resistant. Zipper is sturdy enough (contrary to other reviews I've read). Fills a gap in my colder weather gear. Not for heavy rain but great for outside work in the cold--warmth and durability--no worries about ripping on branches or brush. Have washed (front-loader) and dried (medium heat) once with minimal shrinkage. I expect this will wear well with age. I'm very happy with this purchase and would buy again.
Will the canvas shrink at all if hot-washed? I just received my jacket yesterday and the sleeves are about 4" too long for my arms! When I wear it I look like a kid playing dress-up in dad's clothes.
I washed mine in hot water and it did shrink a little. I noticed with these jackets that the sleeves are really long. Probably the only down fall at all.
My favorite jacket I own. Patagonia finally has a cut that fits me. I'm 6' 5'' 210 and XL fits perfect. Has a longer back like a tennis cut which I love and the sleeves are long which is also a bonus for me. Just as warm as my micropuff but very very durable.
I love a good hoody, but my crappy plain one just doesn't cut it when it gets colder out. I've had my eye on this Patagonia jacket for a few months, and I finally decided to pull the trigger with a backcountry 20% off code. Totally rules, though I hadn't actually seen the jacket in person anywhere its exactly what I was expecting (and more). As Deaner said, the fleece lined pockets are a great touch. The lining is soft and cozy, the fit is very much like a normal hoody, and the two inside pockets are great for my wallet and phone. The jacket appears to be made in the typically excellent manner that Patagonia does stuff.
This is more of a warmer streetwear piece and not a winter jacket for skiing, climbing etc... Cruise the site for more options, here's a starterhttp://www.backcountry.com/store/PAT1299/Patagonia-Powder-Bowl-Jacket-Mens.html
I have a lot of Patagonia jackets and gear, and this is the first non-technical jacket I've bought. This thing is absolutely awesome! I've worn it working on the car late at night, and it's kept me from getting some nasty scrapes in the engine bay. The inside pockets are great for gum and the cell phone, or anything you prefer to keep close at hand. The tri-panel hood fits comfortably over a baseball cap or a beanie, and it's insulated. Fleece handwarmers are deeper then they look, I've gotten three cans of Red Bull in each one, and two more in the velcro inner pocket.
Best part of this is that I have gotten quite a few compliments wearing this one, the fabric and the clean lines are what most like.
My only beef with this one is that the elbows don't have a second-layer reinforcement, but it's a minor beef because the canvas shell is pretty danged sturdy.
This is what I have been looking for. From sleeves that are long enough to Pockets that welcome your hand. This is a great jacket from a company that seems to care about our planet.
I own a lot of Patagonia and typically a medium top fits me quite well. That's why it came as quite a surprise when the top didn't fit very well at all and was too long in the arms. The overall fit is sloppy, although if it fit well I think I might like the jacket very much.
