this is a really cool jacket warm and rugged. Looks like a carhart with a hint of sofistication. works with a cowboy hat and boots fit for a saloon or a trendy sweater and keens in a coffee shop in down portlandia. The brown color jacket is really green in sun light for sure. Very heavy duty and warm for the damp cold pacific nw weather.

Just got the jacket and have some initial impressions.
The fleece on the inside is insanely comfy, and similar to that of the Retro X jacket.
The canvas on the outside is super tough, and all the sewing looks very neat. It had a more tailored fit than I expected. Arm holes are just a tad bit small so you can't wear thick sweaters or fleeces underneath, but then again, who would need to?
For being such a thick jacket, you still get excellent range of motion and sleeves that don't slide up while you're reaching.
Top notch gear from Patagonia, and you can trust them since they back their gear up for life!

One thing... the Hickory color is actually a little more green than the picture. Still cool in my opinion though!

hey, I have a question, In one of the pictures it looks like the jacket has an extended "tail" that dips down so you can tuck it in, almost like a tux jacket, is that really how it is or is that just the pic?

There is a little section that curves down in the back. It's not long at all, but adds a little more lenght in the back. I find it really nice actualy.

Yep, Mr. Lopez is correct. There is a little bit of a drop tail. Not very much, but it keeps my back covered while I'm hunched down sitting by the fire and whatnot. Love this jacket, It replaced my down jacket when I'm out camping
